I saved 12k for an emergency fund and now I want to have this money sitting somewhere where it will still grow but low risk. I’ve been thinking about bonds but I’m not sure. Any recommendations?

Emergency funds should always be liquid. The best you can do return wise is HYSA.

Why not a CD? Or HYS? ~ 1.7%

Potential for small growth with minor risk as well as dividends

Corporate bond etfs? Muni bonds? Utility companies, contrarian plays. Firms where demand is relatively predictable (maybe a la WM or Att)

In this environment, hold on to the cash.

Anybody with a good understanding of NYC real estate market? I’m single, early in my career and looking to buy a one bedroom/studio apartment. I can’t justify high rent price while not being to build up home equity. But it also baffles me that one unit can go for 300-400k. So my question to you is is this even a good investment? Is there appreciation & liquidity potential? I’m not looking to settle down, just replacing monthly rent with monthly mortgage & tax, and sell it when time is right

New 🐟 here! Currently make $150k, wife makes $50k. I’m an immigrant and came to the US with almost no money. Wife is a citizen but grew up poor. Neither of us really knows how to budget / plan for the future. So far I’ve just been reading articles on the internet and trying to follow general advice.

E.g. Rent and utilities is about 26% of take home.
15% goes to debt payments.
Savings about 25%.

Should I get a financial planner? How should I go about this? Idk why I’m stressed

Looking for ideas for a slight "career change". I can't stand working bedside/acute care nursing anymore, officially burnt out.

Does anyone have any experience with informatics based nursing jobs, or clinical documentation specialist positions? EMR auditing? Remote jobs? Pros/cons? Do you find there are part time positions available?

I don't have my masters just my BSN/RB, nor do I plan on going back for my masters, would possibly consider a certification if really necessary.

Looking at market news: near-record Schiller CAPE ratio, forecasts of negative 10-year returns on S&P, euphoria in more speculative assets. Thinking of taking some money out of equities (~20%?) and moving into a large bond fund of primarily US treasuries (think BND).
