You get to earn from the $1.3T infra bill for next decade, exciting!
Roles that require a clearance can be extremely hard to fill so there’s always plenty of openings there. Work is generally more staff aug than actual consulting. Pay is lower but you can make up most of that difference with a clearance. Hours tend to be much better. I work 5-10 a week on average and am just hanging out at home the rest of the time.
Thank you for your service.

Slightly better WLB compared to commercial, but noticeably less comp (disproportionately so).
Seems my pals in public sector consulting are paid peanuts. Guess the margins are to blame. I’d suggest staying away.
I’d imagine the pay is lower. My spouse works for the gov and given what the salary is compared to the same work in the private sector, I can see that being the same for any contractors and consultants. Never been furloughed or concerned about a layoff though.

The multi-billion dollar legislative package + student loan forgiveness are both generating consulting roles. Sure there’s probably attrition, but demand is up.

Better WLB, more stability from predictable contracts with set negotiated rates. Lower pay, lower advancement. If it requires a clearance, less extracurricular fun
Pro
and I’m just saying, that’s not the case at Deloitte for role advancement / progression. At the SM level and higher your promotion needs to include pipeline and market viability, but that’s the same in public sector and commercial. (Comp growth is different/lower in public sector until the PMD level. )
Neither—they’re growing really fast and it’s hard for the big players to keep staffed up.
