I see a lot of consternation about being tasked with menial/"degrading" tasks; the task itself specifically. Are we only allowed to delegate the good stuff if our plate is too full?

I second that actually... I just read those comments and this senior in question is wild

Hahahaha made my night

Sanitizing a deck is a pretty normal task. May not be a great one for your level, but anyone would know it's something that needs to be done. Delegating counting on the other hand? That's just laziness.

Best/worst one was the "how many people are in this room" task

This is the most reasonable response

You should read the comments in the post you're referring to before judging

There are multiple posts about "degrading" work today.

There was a post two down from yours. I'd at least read that one. There is such a thing as a degrading task.

I sanitized a slide deck la couple of weeks ago for a partner. I'm a man. According to these threads I should feel slighted by this assignment, but I was on the bench and happy to help. Not saying I want to do this all day every day or be limited to that but as far as I'm concerned I'm about paying it forward; I know I ask people to do some crap sometimes and I make sure and hook them up however I can the next time.

By all means, some people are whining and should step up. This senior, who was in the same room as the guy, asked him to tell her how many people were in the room... 4 people. Maybe she's just that daft, however

I see where you're coming from though, OP. Nice of you to hook people up down the road

The key is balance, OP. Sure, give me bitch work. I'll book your rooms, fetch your latte, print the decks, manage the team PTO schedule, look up client roles and email addresses, fix the deliverable that you put in the wrong PPT template, whatever. But every once in a while, please give me something slightly meaningful too so I can develop an ounce of skill.

Man I guess I'm in shock because I didn't join big consulting until hired as an experienced SA...I've never been asked to "fetch latte", the team goes and gets coffee together. Those other things, I will admit I would expect a manager/SM/director to delegate, but I would also expect like you said to put effort into assigning tasks that facilitate growth in your career. I mean, shit always rolls downhill...Partners have management do things that they take credit for, possibly get compensated for, manager gets a pat on the back or an internal shout-out or a chance to lead the crap that just got sold. My thing is in either scenario I'm going to have a candid conversation with my CV at least and leave if I don't like what I'm hearing/getting.

The other thing to consider....I don't lead this way....But if you have authority, you have to be able to say no, so they might be busting your balls (metaphorical balls for some) to see if you have the gumption to succeed at the next level, and coach if you don't. By saying yes and bitching privately you're showing you'll take marching orders without question instead of trusting your gut and taking ownership of your situation. And for those who would argue this point - not all firms/teams walk the talk here (by legitimately encouraging dissent) but I'm not afraid to leave, and have done so, if I find myself in a situation where I am being asked to act in a way not consistent with my morals.

I got a pretty big salary jump and wanted to gift myself a simple piece of classic gold jewelry like a Cartier Love Ring. Is this considered "classic" and not tacky? Looking for something under $2k

I'm a Salesforce developer in a consulting firm and feel underpaid for all my technical skills. Where can I go to increase my earnings? Make around $75k base in a MCOL city. I have certifications too.

Just got an offer at a mid-tier consulting company.

170k Base
8% bonus target
Pretty standard benefits otherwise.

It is for an Agile PM/Coaching position. I have 14YOE, with 10YOE directly related to the position. My main hang up is they asked be to come in at consultant level (lowest level). I will basically need to get promoted in my first year to expand my base earning potential. I feel a little dejected about the title with my YOE. Should title not really factor?

What is the compensation level Level 5 Deloitte. Been with the firm for almost 3 years, 16 years of experience with masters

I am tired of consulting. I am forced to work with different technology each time I change a project and they expect me to a be an expert in it. Recently I was asked to do Google Cloud certification and then I was dumped into Azure implementation l, which is a new technology to me.

I am three years post graduation and I feel like consulting is a terrible place to learn. I get 0 realistic support from managers as they expect me to be driving things on my own.

Hi folks! Just wanted your Gyan on what should be the appropriate compensation for someone at AM level in GDS CCaSS practice. YoE-6

I don't know what's going on with Fishbowl but I'm pretty certain they work with the firms legal and HR to silence.

I posted a question in in a PwC Partner Q&A bowl, which I was removed from.

Then I posted in the PwC bowl, which I was removed from.

So I'll post my PwC partner Q&A question here for the 30k users of this bowl, which will be my last time using this platform:

My question: Why does PwC accept and promote sexual assaulants while simultaneously giving lip service about firm values?

Hi 🐟,
My wife finally got call from infosys after a month of attending the interview and HR discussed offer with her and said if she chooses Bangalore there is no wfh ..but for Chennai permanent wfh opinion is available. Also she said it will take 7 to 10 days for offer to be released.

We have two questions
1.why Chennai alone is given wfh?
2.Why so much long to release offer?

Hey guys,
Hope you all are doing well
