PwC has provisionally cleared me to join the firm first week of Jan. What does this mean? Can I start working with them even if the background check is still running in parallel? Can I quit my current job and expect everything to be cool? They said it's taking them longer to verify education and previous employment. Both of which are international.

I agree. Saw one toxic person (very high performer) ruin an entire office. Took years for the partners to figure it out and fire her. Life’s been better for all since she is gone.

Can I ask what you don’t agree with about this video? Do you not see a trend towards emotional intelligence?
Kind of tough since it’s all subjective. Some people are truly toxic for others and should be removed whereas others just have different work styles. A lot of people just can’t differentiate between the two.
I agree with that. I would think that the differentiator would be a pattern of behavior. If one person is consistently causing others to request not to work with them, or worse causing to them to quit, I would think this is what this guy is getting at.
As much as I hate working with people who aren’t good coaches, I don’t necessarily think they should be fired. The firms need to do more across all levels to train managers and execs to be more flexible when it comes to working with different personalities.
This isn’t about firing people who aren’t good coaches. You know there’s one person in every office that staff/seniors dread working with. This is about getting rid of them.
A leader should lead and develop, it is that simple. A person that is “only” talented should cap out as a Manager, that serves as a lone wolf or a hired gun. Directors/ Senior Managers should be good project managers and Partners/ Managing Directors should be transformational individuals that invest in others and clear forests for them.
