Bain & Company What is the likelihood of making SAC in September 2022 if I join as an AC on April 18th at Bain & Company? I am a senior consultant at EY with 3.5 years of experience in Data Analytics. Or is March 2023 more realistic? They told me 6 months for promotion but it seems like the two promotion cycles with my different start dates give me 4 or 9 months of experience, nothing in between. I’ll be joining in the private equity group which will be new for me.
Can anyone tell me what the salary range is for Monitor Deloitte senior consultants in the UAE? Also I have a SC offer from PwC healthcare (not strategy &) and currently also interviewing with Monitor so according to you all which of the two is better across WLB, growth, culture, quality? Thanks!

2 years is the exception !! Certainly not the normal
This. I don’t know anyone regardless of ssl that has made partner in 2 years of being an SM or equivalent. 6-8+ is pretty standard today
Two might make sense with an experienced hire…from the outside looking in, you really never have the full story…and it’s important to not make up your own narrative about why someone was “short” or “long” in getting promoted. If you really want to know-ask that person about their journey.
Keep in mind a huge factor in partnership admission is the business you bring to the table…. In 2 years u can bring business another director /SM may take 6 years to bring.
No one is making partner in 2 years at Senior Manager unless it’s a blue moon type exception. They typically want 3 years of track record to make partner and it generally takes you 2-3 years to get to that level.

So minimum you need 3 years as an SM.
It’s generally 6-7 years In audit. Two is very much the exception.
It varies a lot. It used to be much quicker in the past, compared to now. The average is probably around ~15 years of audit experience to make partner. Obviously, some will do it in less time but I’ve seen others take longer.
I feel now firms intends to slow down people make partners and they don’t put much before partner. Why people work ass off for nothing ?

Appreciate the feedback yall!
There is work being done at EY on being more transparent about the SMCJ, the story, the years, the options and how you can take more control, etc ( senior manager career journey). Contact your talent leader or EY talent development leader. ) There is a lot of data about promotion trends you can learn about so you can create and informed plan.
At KPMG the recent trend with the new MD title is 5-6 years at SM then 2-3 years at MD. At least in my BU there are no more direct SM to Partner promotions so you have to go through MD track.
Lately it had been 4+ depending on business case. I suspect 3 years is not very common anymore unless there are unusual circumstances but I don’t really track it so I may be wrong. In my practice I have seen people at the SM it seems for at least 4-5 years if not more.
