I love where I work currently. I’ve been at my firm’s lit group for 2 years now, and the people I work with are truly very nice people. No complaints yet, we’ll see in a few years lol
I will say it really depends on the people you work with. Don’t get me wrong, there will be long hours and it’s gonna suck. What softens the blow is the people imo
Mentor
Truth. I made some excellent friends from BL, and that surprised me the most about my experience. When that team finally split up and went on to other things, it was legit sad. End of an era.
I do really like most of the people I work with. Still, there is a lot of pressure to put out high quality output at demanding hours. It’s been worth it so far for me for 3 years. We’ll see how far this goes.
I also get a sense that there might be a difference in transactional v lit
I’m in commercial lit and have a big law offer.. debating whether to make the change.. and I don’t hate my current firm
So would love to see why other people go into bl besides the $
Great point, I often overlook that difference but suspect it plays a key role in how teams communicate

I’m probably going to jinx it, but most people I work with are great people. Most biglaw people I’ve worked with or met from different firms are great people. I’ve never personally experienced these horror stories. Maybe it’s a privileged white male thing?
Coach
I really like my coworkers. Still don't like emergency 10pm legal research requests needed before the AM because a client has a bee in their bonnet or opposing counsel is being obstinate.
