How about she focuses on the hundreds of people shot each week and countless children getting murdered in the streets?
Ahh I see, completely agree there! We can address family issues for sure, but that will take a great deal of time rightfully so. You can't make an entire social change overnight, but you can take the weapons out of their hands to lessen the avenues they have for harm.
I'm not sure if the trade-off makes sense.. How many deaths are we preventing from healthy adults? Versus what is the long lasting impact on the lives of the servers, cooks, bar owners?

Do we not have proof from the sunbelt state at this point that lack of restrictions is ultimately detrimental to the economy and health containment efforts?
And to be honest, several decisions from Lori probably led to a spike in cases. Closing parks, open recreational areas only mean that people will gather in closed spaces. The decision to close the lake front was not backed by science at all - virus doesnt spread that easily outdoor.. I do agree that the decision to wait for indoor, barbers, gyms, etc was correct
I think the whole beach thing got thrown out the window once Florida, California and Brazil started getting rocked. People thought that heat and being outdoors would help, but evidently not. When hospitals frequently tag non-COVID deaths as C19 (motorcycle accidents and other obvious non-related causes like heart attacks), only report the daily new case count, ignore the fact we’re testing more now than ever (which means higher cases), that half of all fatalities are in the 60+ range with comorbidities and most cases don’t require hospitalization, and the link between protesters and case spikes in the 19-29 age group, people tune out.
A 15 day quarantine to flatten the curve has turned into a marathon with no end in sight. The political gains are clear and that’s where the distrust comes in.
A 15 day quarantine has turned into a marathon with no end in sight because we did a poor job. Look at pretty much every other country in the world and compare our curve to theirs. And also look at the positivity rate. Illinois is supposed to be doing a good job compared to other states and it's still high at nearly 3%.
