Q&A with Jessika Lora - March 27

I sometimes feel stuck in consulting - I’ve moved up fast and am unsure how to network out and how well my skills transfer. Did you ever feel this way? Any recommendations on how to conquer?

You’re absolutely not stuck. Consulting gives you the best training and skills for taking on a management position just about anywhere. Start talking to friends OUTSIDE of your job about how you feel; the surprising and delightful thing about this tactic is that you will realize your network is full of opportunities you never imagined. Think of every friend, fellow consultant, former customer, and human being on this planet as people standing on top of a hill - the higher their position the wider their perspective on their field. Even if they don’t have any opportunities immediately within their control they will keep you in mind and when something pops up on their horizon it will trigger them to reach out and share it with you. Cheap hack with amazingly high ROI: find people whose careers you admire and reach out to them cold on LinkedIn with an offer to treat them to coffee to interview them about their career path. Every person aside from being a expert in their field is first and foremost an expert in being themselves; which makes it extremely easy to talk to you about that subject. You’d be amazed how often people will say “sure!”

If anyone wants to join a boutique HR & Talent Advisory consulting firm, Kincentric is hiring for an Associate Partner role! Location doesn’t really matter, but preferably in IL, NY, or ATL.
