I’m working alone tonight doing all these idea write ups. I think copywriters do more in the early stages and Art Directors do a lot more toward the end. The key is supporting each other and appreciating each other throughout
What shop do you work at so I can avoid it?
I’m a writer, and I’ve always thought art directors should make more. They always have more work.
ADs do usually work more. That’s just how it is. Take banners for example...once all the lines are approved, the poor AD has to resize the hell out of everything.
Your poor AD needs to hit up the prosecution department for help!
Depends on a lot of factors but I tend to think it evens out. Industry and medium make a difference, too.
If you’re doing heavy digital or print, it might be more art focused. TV, radio, brand messaging... more copy focused. Healthcare, is HEAVY copy, especially on HCP.
As you rise through the ranks, the workload evens or changes as it becomes more about managing a team and less making things.
The best partners can appreciate and help augment their other half’s workload.
