I’ve been doing this for 13 years and probably eight different partners. I’ve really clicked with three of them. It’s basically like an arranged marriage. You have to figure out how to work with them. I’ve only asked for a new partner once. And that partner was freelance (and genuinely terrible) and I was full time. So I would say give it time and try to find ways to make it work before you make any major decisions. But my guess is this is pretty common.
Just be careful. I had one that I tried to make work for six months before I let everything out to a
my sister in law when she asked how the job was going. My husband turned to me and said he didn’t realize it had been THAT bad until he heard it all at once and was like “your partner is just an insecure, narcissist.” And that’s how I came to quit my job and cure my health issues.
Yes, it’s very common.
Thank you so much for sharing. I told my (actual) husband just last week that I feel like I’m in a bad arranged marriage... I just didn’t realise it was how many feel.. somehow normalising my situation gives me the kick I need to make it work. Thank you again
Is different bad? Heck, even heat is generated through friction. ;)
