Hello fishes. I am new to Fishbowl so hopefully I’m doing this right. I am finishing my degree in Computer Engineering and just had an initial interview with Accenture for their Technology Development Program. I am overall very excited, despite some of the opinions I’ve seen. My question is, what certifications or courses do you recommend me pursuing in anticipation of receiving an offer or just in general to continue building my resume? (& where to obtain). TIA!
Any one have job referrals for a beauty company in the Bay Area? I don’t want to do retail, I’m thinking more corporate. Ex. Sephora, Benefit, Kendo, Biossance, Farmacy, etc.
I’ve been trying to get connections on LinkedIn but most times people don’t respond. I recently graduated and really want to work in the beauty industry.Sephora
I didn’t sign any contracts because I wasn’t quite sure I wanted to work there (had a feeling something was going to happen during training). But they ended up sending me a check for the time worked, after I told them it was against the law……
Yes, it's illegal if you're an employee. Did you actually sign an offer letter or employment agreement and fill out an I-9 form, etc? If so, they owe you wages for that time.
Nope. They wanted me to submit I-9 documents (license and social security card) via email but didn’t give me a way to submit it in person. I didn’t feel right emailing them
Yeah, it sounds like they really don't know what they're doing. Electronic submission of the I-9 is a real thing, but not via unsecured email, and it requires someone actually seeing your ID vs just receiving a picture of it. They still owe you a day's wages, but you might not have a way to go after them for it.
Shaaady shady business. You were right to quit and right that what they're doing isn't okay/illegal. Glad you got outta there.
Do you have a contract or any agreement? Can you reach out to someone at the previous franchise?
