I started a new job back in October and after a few weeks in, I came to find out the job was a lot different than what I thought it was gonna be. I like the company as a whole, but my position is not for me and is causing a lot of stress and anxiety. There aren’t any other positions at the company open that would fit my background so I am unsure what to do?

I also want to note that this job is in a different time zone so I have been working 11-8PM which adds to my stress with late nights.

I am not finding the cool tech vibes, or WLB at the almost FAANG tech company I exited to. It feels as bureaucratic, with messy politics and immature flashy show masquerading as work as any other consulting company. When will I find the perfect place to exit to forever? I feel USA has degenerated in terms of caliber of people and structure at workplaces. Lots of superficial people who just touch the surface of things, talk a lot and do little of any worth.

Has anyone freelanced while full time? I’m getting hit up like crazy, and my full time role is so slow right now.

In general if you have no interest in becoming partner will you eventually be pushed out? I’m content with the work/pay and don’t see a need to become partner for my lifestyle. Would it be ok to stay in the manager+ role?

More senior consultants, what did it take to break into the $200k and over range? After 2-3 years and completing my EMBA, is getting a promotion/new position in the DC area over $200k feasible?
