I have been on the fence about my career long term as well. Have you considered doing general marketing or consumer facing brands? Put your resume out there and update your summary if you have one, saying you’re open to new experiences? Or just start applying for jobs outside of healthcare. Those would be my best guesses.
I have found from transitioning in or out a farmer a good way to do it is to look for accounts in another regulated industry. automotive, insurance, finance. I know a little drive or a good way out and then you can switch over to consumer if that’s an intetest.
Oh no! Have you considered switching departments? I dabble in account mgmt and hated it too. Back in PM and love it! Late night and busy periods aside. No advice to switch industries though.
Different focus. Operations mindset has more technical knowledge especially for digital projects. Making things happen rather than planning what is happening. Senior project management is client facing in our agency. But it is nice not to be the primary contact.
Good luck to you! Hopefully you can find an industry that suits you better. I've know many people including me that too a sabbatical. But sounds like you know that wouldn't help either
MBA and pivot.
Update: it’s Monday and I really do wanna kms because of this job 😭😭😭
:( I’m sorry to hear you’re feeling this way! Have you started interviewing anywhere? I know it’s hard without a general direction in what you want to do, but it could be helpful as an interim solution just to see that there’s a “light at the end of the tunnel”.
I def need to get out this industry because I woke up extremely anxious and upset and just the fact my team says there’s going to be extremely long night is just not cutting it for me anymkre
I hear ya. Going through the same thing and I’m thinking of getting out also. I’ve been looking at large hospitals - they tend to have good sized marketing operations and I feel like they’re relatively stable places to work.
