I started working remotely last year for a F500 out of NYC. We’re starting to go back to the office once or twice a week, but I found out that my director just applied and was granted to work remote. VP & SVP are remote as well. Since my commute from NJ is long (1 hour) and expensive ($40 rt) I’m thinking of going full remote as well, but I want to start networking more & developing a mentor relationship with two non- direct reports. Current plan is go in for a few months & reevaluate- thoughts?

Are you not allowed to go in at all if you are fully remote? I wouldn’t think they would tell you no if you decided to go in sometimes even with approval to be remote. But who knows if they will approve remote status in the future. I would apply for remote now.

Unless the mentorship is part of your expected job description, no need to put your life on hold. You've met them and built the foundation of your relationship. They can learn online going forward. Live your life. Focus on your time and health.

It’s not necessary to be in person to foster these relationships, just be intentional with your communication. We do lots of video calls and chat on slack throughout the day, and have something in person (a lunch or outing) every 2-3 months.

Intentional communication! Yessss!

Can I ask what company? Or can you name similar kinds of companies? I’m looking for full time remote as my current job is pushing hybrid.

Depends on where you are in life and career. If you need to spend more time with family/home consider going fully remote. If you are in early phases of your career and need help/guidance taking your career to the next level, in person interactions work better in my opinion.

Hi everyone,

I wanted to leverage the hive mind in finding out how best to negotiate a verbal offer for a 100%-remote Product Manager role in NYC, with a IT infrastructure/digital services firm (MNC but non-American):

Base salary: 120k

Sign-on bonus:10k

Bonus: 15%

No stock options

How competitive is this, and what should I negotiate for please? The written offer comes after verbal agreement.

I've 10 YOE in tech project management; 7 in product management.

2. React JS developer
3. Angular JS developer

CTC: 8-10 LPA (negotiable)

What in your opinion would be the right source of hiring for such profiles?

Anyone else having WFH fatigue? I had been traveling weekly for business the last 20+ years, but the last 3 months at home has been personally challenging. I love my wife and 3 boys — but I need some “alone time” which I used to have when traveling. Sometimes I get in my car and go for a drive but it’s not enough. Seems like this WFH is the new working model for the future. Anyone else feel this way?

And to the people who do this... why?
