Are you not allowed to go in at all if you are fully remote? I wouldn’t think they would tell you no if you decided to go in sometimes even with approval to be remote. But who knows if they will approve remote status in the future. I would apply for remote now.

Unless the mentorship is part of your expected job description, no need to put your life on hold. You've met them and built the foundation of your relationship. They can learn online going forward. Live your life. Focus on your time and health.

It’s not necessary to be in person to foster these relationships, just be intentional with your communication. We do lots of video calls and chat on slack throughout the day, and have something in person (a lunch or outing) every 2-3 months.
Intentional communication! Yessss!
Can I ask what company? Or can you name similar kinds of companies? I’m looking for full time remote as my current job is pushing hybrid.
Depends on where you are in life and career. If you need to spend more time with family/home consider going fully remote. If you are in early phases of your career and need help/guidance taking your career to the next level, in person interactions work better in my opinion.
