I still see the eyes of my patients as they are intubated and the fear they projected. So many died. My heart hurts for them, their families and all of those who cared for them until the end. Having some serious PTSD from this pandemic.

My heart goes out to you. I cannot begin to imagine the things you have seen and the things you have felt. Unfortunately there will be varying degrees of PTSD for a lot of people in the future and I am not sure we are equipped to handle them by ourselves. May I suggest that you consider therapy so that you have an outlet to be able to express yourself and hopefully gain some practical coping skills in the process? Praying for you and all others who have sacrificed so much during this pandemic.

I am wondering if you need more support than this site. Do you need to talk to someone? I get a feeling that you are wondering how to deal with these thoughts and feelings…

In the later stages of the pandemic though, many patients were anti-vaxxers.

Many also thought about all the patients and people who were harmed by delayed care, slowdowns and lockdowns

I cannot imagine going through that experience. You were one of the ones in the front helping people at their hardest times. It does not matter the political side patients took. They were lucky to have you there when they needed your help. All you can do is be comforted by the thought that you gave them what you could. Some of them are likely still alive thanks to doctors like you. Thank you

My parents are kindly giving me a down payment for my first property. I am a dual EU/US citizen living in the UK (where I'd be buying), but my parents only have EU citizenship and currently live in continental Europe - i.e. I am a US taxpayer; they are not.

My understanding is that I'd have to declare the down payment to the IRS as a 'foreign gift', but that I wouldn't have to pay tax on it (given that I am the recipient). Have I got the right idea? Or should I shell out for a tax advisor?
