I struggle with confidence and my self esteem a lot. I feel like I’ve tried everything to work on it. Self help books, self care (working out, skin care and treating myself), affirmations. I’ve done it all and nothing seems to work. Is there anything you ladies do that works for you?

Working out has helped me. When everything else around me goes to shit I go into beast mode and work out. It has helped me get a better perspective. Also, I sometimes bawl my eyes out while working out, I feel infinitely better once I am done crying.

Yes, I’m definitely looking into this!

Hmmm. I struggled a lot in HS (though who doesn’t?). For me, it has been a long slow journey to learn to stop caring what others think about what you do/say/wear/etc. one morning I woke up and there it was! That’s not to say that I don’t have moments of self consciousness or doubt, but learning to be introspective and CHECK myself when I’m being overly harsh has gone a long way. And being mindful of when I’m happy—I note why I’m happy and to continue doing those things. Do your thing 🤪

Audiobook recommendations? Currently listening to The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck and I'm enjoying it, but I'd also be open to listening to novels aside from self help books.

Taking some time off. Need some book recommendations. Some light interesting non-fiction. No self help or management books. Just interesting topics that won’t make me think about work.

What's with the saturation of self help/ productivity books on social media (reddit, Instagram etc.) ? Not saying I don't mind reading them, but I see this quite a bit. Know a few people who consciously only read non fiction instead. Just thinking aloud over here. Would like to hear what you guys think ?

Anyone have good NON-FICTION recommendations? Enjoy self-help and psychology books (as long as they’re not overly pedantic). Already read grit, outliers, atomic habits, running (haruki murakami)

Have any of you ladies managed to get over an ex after being hung up on them for years? My ex and I broke up two years ago but I still think about him every day. We live in different countries and he’s now married - I’ve tried multiple therapists, changing cities, traveling loads, throwing myself into work, dating, self help books, you name it. While the pain has become much more bearable, it’s never gone away. Will it ever?

Are there any good movies or novels that show skill development - like follow through? Self-management? Money management? I read a lot of self help books so I know a lot of the theory, and books peppered with examples help, but I feel like most 1 paragraph examples don’t five justice to how hard it may be to change a behavior.

Would you say summaries are as effective for self help books like "the subtle art of giving a fk" and other similar books? I feel the books themselves ramble on too much on a side story only to tell a point that could be summed up in a couple sentences. Or am I just not getting good book recommendations for growth/development on mental well being and productivity

I'm a very logical guy who tends to respond better to semi-academic self help books than to therapy (although I do both). Anyone have any recommended reads on anxiety disorders including PTSD?

Ok so. I have been on this journey for almost a year now to try and 'get to know and love myself' and I'm not there yet. I separated from my ex in March of 2020 and divorce was finalized in October 2020. I'm still sad, lost, angry etc. I'm trying/tried therapy, meditation, ayurveda, self help videos, books, but I'm not happy with myself and I don't think I know myself. I want to be happy alone before I meet anyone new. Any tips or advice on how I can effectively accomplish this? Thank you!
