Oh boy
It’s because 80% of India is Hindus. Majority of the workforce will be off and it’s a national holiday.
We respect all religions but Diwali is equivalent to Christmas in the west where it’s a national holiday.
You mean Eid ?
Do you mean Eid? It is celebrated in India, just like Diwali and Christmas.
When I worked in India in 2000s we had so many days off for holidays for Hindus Islam Christianity and Sikhs. It was very very diverse and accepting.
Many companies celebrate both. It’s mostly employee-initiated. Why don’t you try to start an Eid celebration?

Id is a government and school holiday in India. Not going to say anything more
Huh

Ummm - what? 🤨
I meant we as Deloitte celebrating Diwali
Why celebrating Diwali has to do with any number of Muslims or even Hindus in India? Diwali is not anti to any religion nor is any other celebration be it Eid, Christmas, etc. If I am a Hindu I will celebrate my festival no matter wherever I am in the world.!
Again
My point is about Deloitte holding Diwali celebrations (not about the country)
Feels like Deloitte is giving preferential treatment to 1 religious community over another
I celebrate Eid and not Id (for heaven’s sake) and it’s the same as Diwali for me. Yes, I am areligious and apolitical and an aethist. The celebration is about ppl, oneness, forgetting your differences and not about religion. Don’t wait for others to recognize a celebration. You do your part to celebrate that’s all
