Same same same. Look into PMDD. I’m thinking women in my family have been misdiagnosed as bipolar. Because I’m perfectly sane and rational every other week of the month (including while ON my period), it’s just the week before that I’m depressed, anxious, mildly suicidal, etc 🥲
I’m so sorry you have to go through this! Im the same way every month and it’s annoying because you recognize it but can’t do anything about it.
I would say try to find some calming exercises that work for you that you can do in the office. Give yourself a pat on the back for being able to work while your body and mind are going through that too!
I can absolutely relate, our hormones definitely take a toll on us. I’ve welled up in tears over something small in the office before. I work with all men, they looked at me like I had grown a second head. Thankfully my advisor has some emotional intelligence and he just gives me space and tends to be less demanding when he can tell I’m going through it. I’ve also been diagnosed with bipolar II and ADD. Some days can be a huge struggle with the high pressure industry.
If I were you I would give serious thought to this as while a relatively common problem I don’t think it’s something you should just consider normal or put up with for the rest of your life. For sure men can’t relate but at the same time it could be harmful to just dismiss it as a ‘women’s issue’. If it interferes this much with your life why not seek medical attention? Tried to get on or get off birth control? Personally I have the opposite problem, no period issues, but every pill I tried gave me depression…
Some women take an antidepressant or some kind of mood booster just for the week before. Day 23 is a major hormone shift and I feel it too. I plan to bring it up with my doctor. Mention PMDD as well. They have protocols in place.
Agreed. I feel the same way. I used to get really sick and thought that I was just being a hypochondriac when it came to that time of the month. Turns out that I have fibroids and I wasn’t just making it up. Never doubt yourself or how you’re feeling. Just take the time to understand what’s going on so you can properly address it.
I’m sorry you have to go through this:( I can also have times (sometimes weeks/months) like this as well. Working from home has completely saved me because I’ll have my emotional meltdowns but I’m still able to complete my work, whereas if I was in the office everyday I wouldn’t be able to hide it as easily. It really sucks to deal with but at least the new remote environment makes it easier to handle.
