Seems low but the only way to be sure is to compare to others your level in your area in the same practice.

What year are you?

like

First year.

Insurance rates are very low so it is hard to say and there is always a risk with first years so I think firms tend to low ball in the first year. I would ask for a decent raise once you reach a full year with the firm if not id look to lateral

like

That’s pretty typical market rate in Florida ID. You’ll make more (in some cases way more depending on your city) outside of ID.

Stick at your firm and soak up the experience there til you get a couple years under your belt (2-5 years is sweet spot for moving) then you’ll be marketable to other lit practices because of your hands-on experience. L&E, financial services, or products liability would be a good fit. Might be able to swing comlit depending on your networking and what type of firm you want to go to, as well as your other credentials.

like

Some additional context. Those that have left the firm by or within their first year have generally seen a good sized raise (10-20k).

Generally look at your hourly rate and number of hours billed per year to calculate the gross revenue you’re bringing in. In a small firm you should expect to make around 30% of that gross revenue number. I know insurance defense is super low hourly rates typically.

Also why not consider switching to corporate / transactional work and ride the hot market? Work a couple hundred hours more for twice the pay.

Cole Scott?

I’d also post this in the general law bowl.

Hi all, I realize this isn’t a medical community but would still appreciate insights. I started Trintillix for anxiety / depression but ultimately insurance wouldn’t cover it. I have a history of eating disorders so really won’t take anything that might make you gain weight. Realize this is a tall order, but TIA.
