How to get better in interviews? I am a foreign-attorney and a current law student (rising 2L). I am in the top-third of my class, Hispanic woman, years of legal experience, and made law review. I always receive tons of compliments during my interviews, but they don’t result in call backs. Some interviewers are truly interested in my personal story, but seem like they were not planning to hire me from the beginning. What can I do? I am terrified of not getting a 2L SA.
Salaries posted on fishbowl and other comparable message boards are always inflated. Don't stress over a couple thousand in year 1
What you’re feeling right now, everybody feels, especially if you expose yourself to something like Fishbowl. If the salary is right for you, don’t worry about what others think and just keep moving.
I agree. But do get clarity on grade/band ASAP. Usually agreement on grade at a min is needed up front.
What level? Years of exp?
Bahahaha! I’ve never heard of anything like this 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
I guess you’ll get what you deserve
3 years, Senior, started after undergrad, moving into industry as a lateral hire
D1 Rude much? Thanks for upholding the Deloitte stereotype
I asked for at least a 20% bump. Thought it was a decent bump since I just got promoted. It seems people on Fishbowl are asking for more though so got worried
Hahha I’m still laughing over here! You seem great at doing your research! :)
Yes. When they ask you what it will take for you to move, tell them you would want to be compensated for the work and value you do/bring to table. Until you have more clarity on role, you wont take job, but it is your expectation you will be comp'd for the value you bring and not what you did in the past for someone else. Something like that
In all honesty though, don't compare yourself to others, think about how happy / unhappy you will be if you move/not move, then about how you will feel to be screwed/not screwed, and decide from there
