I think I know the answer to this but want to get thoughts. I did a screening interview and the recruiter mentioned the salary range. It’s less than what I was hoping for and less than what I’m (contd

Currently making. They told me in the screener that the salary range in not negotiable. Is that absolutely true? Can I push to receive top of the range? I am trying to get out of an undesirable work situation and can afford the cut but still want to get my value. Also do I have to tell them my current salary?

It depends on the company. A lot of companies have specific salary ranges for each level, and can’t veer from it. Others (usually smaller or privately held) have more flexibility. If they’re telling you up front, and they’re aware that it’s less than you’re making now, then they’re probably telling the truth that it’s not negotiable.

If they’re telling you at the outset that it’s their budget, then that’s their budget. In some states, recruiters cannot ask you what you’re currently making. I suppose that you can tell them if you want to, but I’m not sure how it’s ever to your benefit.

What you're currently making isn't going to be relevant however I'd always negotiate or try to if I was truly interested and a match. I'd interview with them to find out more, see if I like them and the position, and see if I can make them like me even more, then use that to broach money again at the stage close to an offer

When I tell people that it is the absolute top of the range, it’s pretty much true. Depending on level there may be potential for a small signing bonus, but there still isn’t much wiggle room.

Hello, I'm new here, I want to see opinions. Several days ago I was contacted by a hospital recruiter here in Florida. The position is patient financial rep. When I am in the interview, the salary part arrives. She asked me how much i earned at my current job and I innocently told her. I made a serious mistake, she only offered me 75 cents more than I made an hour at my current job which is temporary. My interview with the managers is this Wednesday. Do you think I should negotiate ?

Hi fishers,

My spouse is currently on H4 visa which is due to expire in 7 months.

I was planning to ask my employer if they can start filing for H4 visa renewal. However, she is also eligible to file for EB2 NIW visa as she has worked as a research analyst in a non profit organization earlier during her 6 year H1B visa.

Could you please advise if both EB2-NIW filing can be applied when H4 visa renewal is already being processed or vice versa?

Any advice for asking to work from home?
I started my job just over a month ago and the one day a week I work from home I absolutely love. I have an hour commute to the office all other days and I'd love to even just get one more day at home. My manager is not aware of my adhd and I have crippling fear and shame around it so I'd rather not tell him. The office environment I'm in is honestly any neuroduvergent's nightmare. I know it's probably wrong to not tell him but I don't want any judgement.

Hey folks, I'm getting an offer as a SC in EY UK. Presently I'm a manager with EY India (up for SM next yr Oct 2021). Comp is 55k range (haven't officially received the figure, a few more days it's expected, doing some homework before that).

I'll be moving with family. Wife may not immediately start working (,find a new job, we have a toddler daughter as well 2 YO).

I personally don't find this offer commercially attractive. Can someone offer some counter arguments?

Have an offer from a dream company but I'll need to go in at a lower level. Knowing that I can bring a lot of value to the company (read- I know my worth), I negotiated with the hiring manager to have a level/comp review 6 months after employment. If I hit all my goals (ie, prove myself) within that time frame, I'll get a promotion and salary adjustment.
QUESTIONS:
Should this be in writing in the offer letter?
How detailed should it be? I assume I won't know what goals to set till I start...
