How would you handle this situation? My MIL is friendly and tries to be motherly towards me… giving life advice, wants to care for baby, asks lots of personal questions. I just don’t feel the same towards her mainly bc we are not aligned on values and she’s a big gossip so anything shared with her will be repeated. How do I maintain a good relationship with her while keeping her at arms length? We live in the same city.

Making our registry and really stumped on baby monitors. Nanit and Miku seem to have the most tech, but at 2x the price, is it worth it?

We plan to have 1 more, so it'd get us through 2 kids.

Anyone have a toxic / overbearing mother in law? I thank my lucky stars she lives several states away so we don’t have to deal with her negativity all the time. She always has to be right. She can’t apologize. She holds petty grudges. We (my husband and I) have to walk on eggshells whenever we do see her. I don't appreciate it when our district handbook has specific punishments for offenses, and our principals give the punishment as directed. Any attorneys in the Bay Area practicing just in estate planning (not litigation), can you give your take on whether you would get enough business to do only planning? I'm currently doing family law and I want to start moving away from litigation. For family law there really isn't a non litigation role that produces enough business (i.e. mediation). I do okay, but definitely have to take on more litigation than I prefer. I was thinking estate planning might be a good addition to the mix.

Comsidering MSW or Masters in Counseling. Would need to do it while continuing to work full time. Seems like A LOT, but also might give me something to focus on / hope for instead of continuing to spiral while wearing golden handcuffs. About to pop with 2 baby after a long, long IVF journey. My daughter is about to be 8years old and I’ll be taking a long leave before going back to work. My mom wants to help with the baby and my MIL lives in the same house as me and willing to help whenever. Since I’ll be home for a while and may need some space… what do I tell them? Maybe just give them windows they can come see or help with baby/chores? Play it by ear? Ask only when I want help? No idea how to handle this.

Just venting, but it’s so tough when my 14 month son is in a bad mood that he wants daddy. I get it, I’m on the road a lot, but it makes me feel like a terrible mom.
