I was just bitched out by a PM who (according to his LinkedIn profile) was a student four years ago, while the people pleaser baby ACD nodded and placated the PM. Some jobs you earn the bucks...
McK and BCG 🐟, do you all accrue tenure while you’re on parental leave? If so, how much?
My Career Counselor (read: mentor for non Accenture 🐠 ) is expecting her 1st baby! Any gifts anyone can recommend (more on the personal side)? I’m in charge of purchasing on behalf of our office.
Hi Fishes, This might probably a stupid question, but I want to get it clarified. Lets say to save taxes, I am transferring a certain amount as rent along with rental agreement to my parent's to claim hra excemption. Would I be able to transfer this amount from my parent's account to my account back again? Will income tax trace these transactions as well?
Have anyone tried to get b2 visitor visa renewal for parents recently. My parent's visa is expiring soon and i am trying to book renewal appt. Are they providing Dropbox appt for renewals or in person dates for Mumbai.
Do you have to spend a certain number of months at PwC before you get their parental leave benefits?
Did anyone find themselves feeling disconnected with husband post baby? New mom here. Feel like my husband and I hardly talk of anything other than the baby and her daily needs. In case we ever do, we always end up fighting. Feeling unsure whether our relationship will last. I know the root of the problem is that we don’t get much time for each other. But just wanting to know if this somewhat normal, or should I be prepared for the worst.
I have got an offer based in Boblingen, Germany with 60k euro as fixed. Will it be enough for a couple with a 3 year old kid ? My major expense would be accommodation, groceries, kid’s school and transportation. Please do let me know your valuable inputs. TIA
I’ve really been having the urge to get out of consulting lately. I’m hesitant to leave Deloitte however Bc my husband and I plan to start a family in about 2 years and I know deloitte’s 16 week parental leave policy is rare in the marketplace. Mom’s - do you feel like it’s worth sticking around another 2ish years for the parental leave benefit? (FYI i am newly promoted to SC)
If a kid is born in your country, grew up there, and later became famous in other country, you don't necessarily have to take credit for it. Be humble. Ever seen China taking credit for the coronavirus thing?
How does maternity leave affect your bonus and time towards partnership at your firm? My firm pro-rates your bonus based on the months you worked (no credit for leave) and can dock you a year from partnership in their discretion. They are more likely to dock you a year if you took leave for more than one child.
EY Parental leave question: how many weeks were you actually out? When I took my leave 3 years ago, I counted total of 21 weeks of leave. That’s including one firm winter holiday week. I remember I initially thought I would be back after 16 weeks, but then in the middle of my time off I got an email from Leave Team with the breakdown and it actually was 21 weeks. Can someone who took leave recently tell me the actual number of weeks?
What are y’all asking for Christmas this year? F 36 years old with a 3 month old baby. I need ideas! Should I ask for gift card for a Massage?
Hi Moms- Curious to get a sense of what your different parental leave policies look like and how you have liked them. My company gave 12 weeks paid and I felt it was woefully short for my first. Before having my second, I'm interested in pushing my company to increase the time and am curious to hear what other companies offer. Beyond just the time, was your company flexible? Is it the same for all parents? Did it feel like enough? Thank you!
I was told that I won’t be considered for my promotion to SM this year end because I’m on maternity leave. This sounds sketchy given that I did everything in my power to prepare before I went on mat leave. Now I’m pushing my coach and leadership to let me go up for promotion in an off cycle promotion. Is this fair and normal or is this a sign I need to look for a new job and resign? I feel like I’m being punished for being on maternity leave.
What's the best way to announce a broken engagement to family? Driving to my parent's for dinner and I haven't told them yet. So nervous they'll be disappointed :/
My father who lives in India has some dollars in his international account. Can he transfer them to my US account ? Is there a limit after which there can be tax implications for me
What breast pumps portable would you suggest? I have only ten weeks of maternity leave so will pump while working too.
Can any Columbia current students or alum speak to the culture there? I know this has been asked often, but curious to hear other viewpoints since everyone has a different experience. Also, how might the new building impact the culture? FWIW I’m an admit deciding on schools
Any patient care techs/ cnas in tx area? Dfw or nearby suburbs. Curious which major hospital pays best. Previously worked at medical city so far seems they are one of the lower paying ones.
Has wfh made you change life priorities, how ?
Switch to another consulting firm for 20-25% raise + bonus but same level (manager) or wait for promotion at EY this year but still less money. Doesn't look like EY will match the competing offer.
Sr Product Analyst exit opportunities? I'm close to promotion to manager at Big 4 in analytics space. Stay until promotion or take Sr Product Analyst position at fintech company. Pay will be roughly the same + RSUs I'm curious about career path/exit ops as product analyst and how much exit ops improve as b4 manager compared to senior consultant. Any insights appreciated!
I’ve been doing generic consulting in the ERP space for over 2 years and looking to exit into something marketing/advert/PR related, but unsure how to leverage my story/what I’ve done to make that transition. How has anyone used their previous knowledge to land those interviews at those types of roles?
Have an offer in the Bay that is 100k -- moving as a single late 30's male. No debt. Though I really like the job, I'm worried about the salary -- I keep hearing that's not enough money to have a decent standard of living. I would plan to get a car eventually and though I want a 1 bedroom, I'm not opposed to a roommate. First time I've had to rethink a great opportunity because the money was not enough -- can't tell if I'm being overly sensitive to other people's money needs or not?
I have a 5th grade demo lesson tomorrow and the school would like for me to do it on social emotional learning. Any suggestions on what I can do?
I’m moving to San Francisco soon. What are some apartment finding tips you can share? Thank you in advance
Hey y’all need help evaluating and gathering ideas for a counter offer. For context I’m a manager 8 YOE at mid tier not big 4, but top 10) firm doing digital transformation consulting. Got an offer from a start up (series D, unicorn) Role: enterprise architecture Base: $155k Equity: $50k over 4 years (1 year Cliff at 25%) 401k: no match This brings TC to $167.5k per year which feels low to me as I was expecting much closer to $200k for TC. I’m ok with the base but equity seems low. Thoughts?
One of my friends is in San Diego and was planning to transfer to a better school but had below average first semester grades. Do you have a chance to improve his grades and get big law locally somewhere in San Diego. If not directly to big law then what’s the best path to getting there eventually? Thank you
Badger & Winters: would love an honest POV from someone who works / has worked there ... how is the culture? How is the work? Are they retaining & getting new business? Would you recommend it?
How do people switch from human capital consulting to corporate strategy role in industry? What are the attributes or skills needed for corporate strategy? Has anyone done this switch and can share about your experience? TIA!
Know anyone who switched from PA to -gasp- law school? -dramatic pause- pros, cons? Considering applying to start Fall 2018.
I'm so sick of getting compared to only females I work with. We aren't even the same staff class and my manager always groups us together whenever he talks about the work I'm doing
Looking for recommendations on a good book/resource on how to manage people, especially when you’re managing teams to achieve tight deadlines and also overall leadership for those teams. Currently on a project with tight regulatory deadlines and feel like I’m struggling to push people without pissing them off. Great learning curve for me and a good read seems timely. TIA!
For people who exited to a brand new industry from their practice area, what were some of the barriers faced and lessons learned?
Agree or disagree - media peeps. Knowing all the ins and outs and nuances of Facebook ads is a pretty hard technical skill? I am sick of people thinking it’s so easy.
I got a verbal offer from one of big 4 and the 💰 is decent. Here is my hesitation : I want to go truly because I want to grow to be a leader. I am a Sr. DS, specialize in financial risk analytics. I want to join Big4 ( as SA -DS) so I can learn what's new in the industry and see if I can contribute to white papers. Am I too naive? 🤔 I just read so many negative comments about Big4 and really got me thinking....
