I think I'm getting sick, but I hate to take off. The sub NEVER follows my plans, the kids lose ground, and then I worry about what happens while I'm gone. Anyone else?

I used to feel this way, but I mastered the subtle art of not giving a (fill in the blank)! I am so free now! When I take off I leave fun busy work and I let go. You will not get well if you are always worrying bout what’s going on in class. I’ve also learned that the work we do has more to do with relationships and building student motivation and confidence then with actual lessons.

Unless I'm super sick, I'd much rather save my "sick" days for fun mental health days! Haha, I know that's not really the question asked, but I too hate taking off work in general (it ends up being more work!) so it better be worth it!

So true!!!!! I try to explain that to my husband. He's always like.... but you legally are entitled to days off, aren't you? I'm like, you don't understand! LOL

Same. I don't take off unless I am having surgery, throwing up or passing out.

In high school, it's only an hour for them...take care of yourself! They will be fine.

If you are sick, PLEASE, use your sick days! I learned over time it is best to take care of self first and worry about work and lessons last... I realized this pattern when I pushed myself to work when I was sick, I spent most weekends sick in bed, most of my off days, sick in bed and never had time to spend with my family, after hours because I am too sick... js

let me put it to you this way if I could do over I would. I had thyroid cancer almost 3 years ago. I was so afraid of getting dinged on evaluations I waited until the last possible minute to go through with treatment so it would coincide with summer . and I went back that flowing August. would. it do that again. would go in temporary disability instead. just. is getting back to a level where I can function efficiently after the cancer. this weekend my partner and I had a health scare for him. I was in the emergency room with him.inwas so tired after getting home at 5 am Monday I called in out of desperation for sleep. I NEVER do that. today I feel guilty because he is laid up home alone and i can't afford to take off to be there to help. I know it's not expected of me, but I still feel guilty.

Anyone have a sensitive stomach? Id love to hear some explanations from the crowd that aren’t a serious medical condition - just an above average sensitivity. I don’t think I have IBS, but I get really triggered by certain foods and they just run right through me. Some triggers I know (too much cream / fat, or conversely a large amount of raw vegetables) but other times it feels really random.

Been with my s/o for 13 years. We have had a lot of ups and downs. She had a really rough upbringing which caused severe anxiety and depression. I tried splitting up but I could sense she was unraveling and we'd always end up back together. Eventually I felt so stuck/got so sick of it that I went to grad school out of state (wasn't the right move i know but I couldn't get through to her that it was taking a toll). Long distance sucked, and her depression turned into suicidal behavior. (Cont).

My grandmother passed away recently, and I thought I would be very sad and cry, but I am not and I wonder if there’s something wrong with me. I was very sad and cried when she fell ill three years ago, but when she passed away I don’t think what I felt was sadness, more like emptiness... Is this normal? I’ve never had someone close to me pass away and I feel terrible because I am not crying.

I am feeling like he lied to me about his medical condition and could have brought it when I had explicitly asked him about this.

(Idea being that you greatly extend your opportunity to look for jobs while still being able to say you’re at current firm. My sister and I are 29 and 31, respectively. I’m struggling with something that has irked me our entire lives. My parents pay for things like her dog’s medical bills, vacations and moving expenses. They always want to help. The problem is they’ve never offered to pay for those things for me, and I’ve never asked because I’m a fully grown adult and don’t want them to spend their retirement on us. She has savings and isn’t struggling financially. Why does this bother me so much?

Partners or whomever can help me understand about billing and hours. To keep things simple, let’s say you only have one staff to work 1,700 billable hours a year on a $60k salary and you have only one job that and the rate charged to the client is $300/hour and an projected hours budget of 1,700 hours. So ideally you would have revenue of $510k. If the staff takes less time partners make less money and if they take more time partners make more money while the staff keeps the same salary?
