I think I’m pregnant and I’m SO freaking scared. TMI below... . . . . . . I was supposed to start my period on the 14th. On the 15th, I had only the slightest light pink spotting and that’s been happening on and off for three days now with light cramping. Mothers, did any of you experience this when you conceived?? This has never happened to me before. I’m shook!

I’m not sure which result you’re hoping for but I just wanted to say that if you’re pregnant and don’t want to be, you have options. My senior year of college, I was 3 weeks late for my period and I finally decided to take a test after feeling nauseous. I spent a night freaking out and went to the doctor the next morning, where they confirmed I was 5 weeks along. I was not ready, so I ended up opting for a surgical abortion at PPH. It took a morning and was pretty smooth. The nurses were incredibly kind and the only side effect I had was nausea from the sedation. It was 100% the right decision for me at the time and I’m so grateful I had the option. Sending love your way no matter what it is you are afraid of and happy to offer a listening ear if it is helpful.

I honestly find it frightening that most replys stress you „have options“ but in a tone pushing to not have the child. Sure you have options and there is nothing wrong deciding in the one way or the other. It is your very personal decision. On the other side it is also okay to be grateful that life is growing in you. There are many women who struggle to conceive. So congratulations to your pregnancy. I don‘t know what you you are fighting with. Maybe it is not the right man or the right moment in time or you do not want children at all. But will there be ever the right moment in time? Let me tell you my story. I am more than 20 years in consulting and focussed on my career. Consulting is not the perfect job for a women with children but it works if you really want. I waited long to have children, too long. I tried to conceive for the first time when I was 41. I had to do numerous fertility treatments and spent 120k € to doctors just to get a child. So you have choices and this includes also to step up and think positive about your pregnancy.

Everyone is reassuring her that she has options because there’s those people like the one above, who make it seem like ‘yes you have an option, but if you choose the one I don’t agree with you’re not stepping up and I will look down upon you.’ OP needs to know that the majority of us woman would support her and appreciate how strong she is that she even has to make this choice, one way or the other! There’s never a perfect moment in time for anything, but everyone’s individual circumstances inform the best decision for them at a given point in time and that’s up to them to make

Yes that happened to me when I conceived BUT it has also happened to me in periods of high stress. Go pee on a stick, girlfriend. Hugs to you.

Okay okay okaaaaay. I’ll pee on a stick. Thanks for your feedback ladies. I don’t know why stressing over it constantly felt like a better plan than just getting a test in the first place. 😂 I’ll come back and update once I get the balls to take the test.

I’ve been in the same place you are and GIRL it’s so stressful even though the solution (pee on a stick) is right there. I suggest you buy a couple cheap ones so if you mess it up you can just try again right away. Sending you good vibes ❤️

Do a preg-test at home. Spotting doesn’t mean you’re pregnant. I see this for a few days, usually followed by heavy bleeding for a couple of days and that’s it. Also, go see a gynae because it could also be a sign of cysts developing causing the cramping.

like

That’s the second thing I’m worried about. I’m scared of that, too. 😢

Take an over the counter test. I actually tested 20 days after my period date thinking I just missed it cos I was stressed out but turns out I was pregnant. I was also scared but it will work out, for anything the starting point is to test first

like

I'm not sure which direction you're scared of but as others have said, a late period or spotting doesn't mean you're pregnant. Stress can certainly throw your cycle off. On the other hand, if you're worried about spotting during a pregnancy, I've had that with a couple of my pregnancies and both resulted if perfectly healthy babies.

I haven’t been stressed at all lately, but I’m scared that it could maybe be implantation bleeding because I went down a google rabbit hole. But I’m also scared that maybe something is wrong with my uterus.

Good luck girl!!! I’ve been there and the best thing to do is know your options, and just take the test.

FTM - I’m just curious on how some of your maternity leave is set up. I received short term disability pay for 6 weeks and then paid from my job for 6 - they offered additional bonding time, but unpaid. The paid portion came from my “sick time.” I wasn’t sick, I was caring for and bonding with my son. That’s been bothering me since I returned. Now I don’t have any sick leave and any last minute time that I need to take is unpaid. Other countries give moms the entire year, 100% paid 🥴
