I currently work in sales for an asset manager and have an MBA. Would like a designation, one that’s applicable to asset management and has some status/recognition. Appreciate any thoughts or insights. (Also dont want to take CFA)

I recently graduated with a bachelors in finance, and have recently got hired (5 months ago) as a financial analyst. Realistically I do FP&A for a company. I have realized I am not a huge fan of doing non stop spreadsheet all day. Am thinking I’d enjoy my career more by becoming a financial planner and getting my CFP certification. Maybe in the future opening up my own firm. Any advice on what career move to make next in order to accomplish this? CFP requires 3 years of relative experience.

Crossposted. Looking for advice. I’ve got 10+ years as an attorney and have been trying to go in house for over a year. I have a generalist background (although I’m primarily a litigator) and was a partner at an Amlaw 100 firm. I’ve had my resume reviewed and keep getting great feedback. Not getting many interviews and when I do, I’m not getting offers despite positive interviews. How do I differentiate myself? Should I get some sort of certification or specialty? This is getting depressing.

2Y MBA here will be joining McKinsey next year after graduation. I just got an email from McKinsey HR saying my background and social media checks are cleared. However, it is also mentioned in the email that aside from the MBA degree verification after my graduation, “a reinvestigation may also be required If your initial background screening has cleared more than 60 days prior to your start date.” Do they really do background checks again? It takes a long time lol.

Hi all - looking for stats and help on what a St Consultant level III gets paid here in London? (My understanding is that levels are indicative of the cost of living of your home office and thus a higher level guarantees a higher pay). With 80K I feel like I’m being severely low-balled. Somewhat often when I’m talking, I use a wrong but similar word to what I meant to say. For example I might say horse instead of deer or say someone’s name wrong and not realize it. My family and friends are used to it but I’m nervous this might show up in a professional context and I might not even realize 🫣

Feeling burnt out and mentally exhausted lately.

I want a baby but I want to go to law school next year but I also want to move to the islands next year (and I also don’t have a man but that’s besides the point). Decisions decisions.

I work at a 40 person company and about 35 went to the same very highly regarded school. 5 of us (including me) went to an easier school but 2nd in the state. The majority likes to make fun of us, like a 45 year old dude still making college hate jokes.

But it’s always fun to remember we ended up in the same place making the same money. And they worked so much harder for it.
