Need advice. I have a client who just can't stop getting in their own way. They push us to turn a document quickly (in this case, an LPA for a new fund), and then take weeks to review, following up with a 50-page chart setting forth the LPA sections and detailed questions/comments. I can't keep anyone on this client because their process is so brutally and unnecessarily time-consuming, and I can't keep pulling all-nighters just trying to respond to all the questions. What do I do?

Junior partner at a specialist boutique consulting firm (compete w/ MBB primarily in our verticals) with prior experience in PE on both deals and ops side, and corp dev. My career here is pretty stable and money is good enough without killing myself (500k+ cash) but I miss being an investor vs an advisor.

Is there any path back to GE/PE at this stage? My gut says no unless it's a firm where I have a client relationship and I get lucky but hard to broach the subject given dynamics. Any advice?

Hi Fishes,

Please suggest a good answer for below Project Manager post related questions.

1. How will you manage a running project if it is getting over budget?

2. What will you do if you want to deliver a project in a week but all decided modules are not ready? There is a scenario where you cannot ask the team to work on the weekend and cannot ask for daily extra work.

Anyone have any experiences about project types, how S& stand apart, etc? Also

I'm coming from Deloitte (A&D engineer previously), where i had enjoyed/been most productive in strategy assessment projects... Part of why I'm going for S& before PwC. But would love to hear about the kinds of projects to expect, differences vs what I've done, and any other interview prep suggestions.

Thank you!

I’m a 5th yr considering lateraling from a V30 to a V100 to increase chances at partnership. The v100 makes a fair amount of partners in my practice and I would assess my chances at making equity partner there to be relatively good for BL. At the V30 equity partnership odds seem much lower, but my reviews have been good. The V30 has >$2mm per year higher PPP, higher chambers ranking and better exit ops generally.

I hate this job, it just doesn’t fit my style.

My philosophy is to be as brief, to the point and no-nonsense as possible. Better, easier and cheaper for the client, and less hassle for me. I’m an efficient guy.

However, partners tell me I need to write more both in volume and detail, and that my hours are low.

When I send stuff to clients, they are happy, and most of my clients contact me directly. Seems partners worry about my style not amassing enough hours, not that it’s not good enough
