I think the holidays have gotten much more stressful since I got engaged and need to divide up holiday time with my SO’s big family and my big family. Can’t wait for a large house of my own where I can just have everyone over at once.

How do you deal with the guilt of leaving your aging parents alone when they need you? Currently in India on vacation and flying back to US tomorrow, feeling very sad.

I feel like I'm on the verge of a nervous breakdown and yet I'm terrified about taking the time I need for my mental health. The fear of potentially losing my job (and my income) for taking extended time off to take care of myself creates a vicious cycle of fear, paranoia, and anxiety.

Any good vacation ideas out there? Cigars, golf and beer are always a plus.

A former boss reached out about a role on his new team. When it came up that I just had a kid, he literally said, “I think you’re busy with other priorities now.” And the conversation ended. Anyway, that still happens.

If you run into a situation where someone says a sexist/racist statement and then backpedals by saying "it was just a joke" in order to save face, have them explain it. This accomplishes two/three things: 1) makes them realize the reality of what they said and/or shuts them up and 2) allows more details you can tell HR. Don't stand for this shit.
