It’s just an email account? I don’t se why it matters. My gmail account is not significantly better than my dad’s hotmail. Yes he does still wear his cellphone clipped to his belt on occasion but I haven’t given him a hard time about his email
D3 it just makes you seem like you're behind the times. Here's the best way I've seen it explained:
"If you’re in an industry where it’s important to stay up to date on data and trends, it probably isn’t a good impression to send emails from a service that was at its peak of relevancy 12 years ago"
Yes you were correct. That was good advice, he should be grateful.
I miss sliding the antennae out when I start to take a call
Better than “hotmale.com” #amirite
Iheartdolphins2003@aol.com
Definitely not wrong. The optics of a hotmail account are not professional
People that are worried how their email domain appears on their resume probably have bigger issues they should we worries about.
There is nothing wrong with that. I did have a candidate Mr A Wu whose email on his resume was “wudaddy@isp”. That is where professional advice comes in. Nobody cares if you use gmail vs Hotmail vs yahoo
You were not wrong.
I had a friend in college with his own personal website and his email address was hireme@[hisname].com
How the hell is Hotmail less credible than Gmail? It’s LITERALLY Microsoft vs Google. Jesus.
I have a hotmail. Had it since college. No shame, and it starts a conversation about the changes in technology. Oh and it’s data privacy policies are 100x better than Father Google
Hotmail isn't bad. If it was AOL or even Yahoo, I think it'd be a different story. Also, this person should be fine assuming the ID isn't from when they we are a teen (e.g., Blink182Fan@hotmail.com)
I still use my Yahoo email on resumes. Not sure why it's an issue. I respond to my emails either way 🙄
I'm 30 I still use my hotmail from when I was 14, nothing showing that i made it at 14 except it's hotmail, and people definetely laugh when I give it to them, but oh well I'm keeping it until the end
Thank you PwC1 for correct use of e.g., including the comma! I explain this to my teammates all the damn time.
M1 nailed it. If you work in any field that cares about innovation, stuff like that is a massive negative.
To those who are joking about Msft vs google, or data privacy, i’d only say that hotmail is not the answer. Hotmail is dead (literally - its website redirects to outlook/live) and using it makes you look like you’re stuck in the past. Just get a legit Microsoft email.
This is great; Can we assemble a definitive ranking here of email domains?
OP - if that counted against you, you should walk on that firm because they are a vacuous pieces of crap who probably argue about the type of Tumi you should own rather than focusing on client value.
