I took a new job in order to move across the country for my husband's promotion and I hate my new job. The role sold to me by the recruiter and company leadership is not at all what I am actually doing. I am so overworked it's unreal. If they sold you and told you one thing and you are now doing something else you have the right to address. I would start with your direct manager first tho (if you haven’t already) before you go over their head. Any good manager (your bosses boss) will point you in that direction anyway. This is a good market for AE’s they would be stupid to not address it and make it right.

If you are the newest team member it sounds like you got the bucket accounts. I call the C & D accounts that may have done business in the past or simply are just place holders in the CRM. If that is what you are dealing with this is my procedure for dealing with those accounts. I look at the accounts and shift them as best I can. What I am looking for is accounts that having buying triggers or a potential to close on business when I need them to. The others I out on ice and if possible find a way to keep them engaged without investing a ton of time. Yes, it may come off as not the most customer centric method, but you need wins and those accounts are not being covered for a reason. If you like your organization and develop your book of business then the bulk of those accounts will go to the next new person to join you team. I'd be curious what history my fellow teammates and manager could share on those accounts. Stick with it. You'll find your stride.

Hi there, this happened to me. First of all, don’t doubt yourself, you got it! I agree with the reply before me. Some companies plan replacements/succession of current reps by hiring someone and practically keeping them on the bench while they train and try with a worst territory. Consider this a free on the job experience to make mistakes. This model works best if there is a guarantee for a quarter or 2. This can be very frustrating for you to say the least! Ask yourself, is your management putting you under the microscope or giving you a hard time? If yes, then the above mentioned scenario is not likely. If he is supportive and is asking you not to worry then he probably knows something about a coming change but cant announce it yet.

Any interview tips for Project Manager roles in software development? I was moved to this role about 2 years ago and soon looking to jump to another company, but unsure of what to focus on talking about. I’ve tested the waters and the feedback from one interviewer who was generous enough to provide it was that I made myself sound like a technologist rather than a PM because I was too focused on the product and it’s details instead of the project management details.

Help me ask for a raise in my upcoming performance review? In sum, my company’s HQ is in Texas and I feel I’m being paid a Texas wage when I live in Los Angeles (the role is remote). We do have a San Francisco office and I want to ask my boss to match me what staff are making there. As that’s more comparable. Based off of Glassdoor, my salary matches Texas’s exactly and SF has the same role at 10k more. Should I show him the Glassdoor page? Don’t want to come off too strong. Please advise

Hi Fishes, I recently got shortlisted for a Product Manager position at Tracxn. There’s also an IPO coming up which is the reason I had applied. But I have read some horrifying reviews about the company on Glassdoor, indeed and other forums. I’m wondering whether it’s worth going through the interview process and I’d also like to hear opinions from anyone who has worked with the company or is aware of the company culture. Thanks.
