In case you never got to see the New York Times article about air quality in classrooms, I’m posting it here for you. It makes some very important points about creating the safest possible environment for students and teachers. 1. Open windows if it all possible 2. Place air purifier centrally 3. Don’t place fans in a way where the air is pointed at people Have a great year and keep yourself and your students safe! https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2021/02/26/science/reopen-schools-safety-ventilation.html
I recently completed my doctorate in Education Leadership. I’m ready to be out of the classroom, but I still want to be hands on w students. What options do I have? Where do I go from here? It’s such a shame teachers have to leave the classroom to be paid what they deserve.
Have you felt the need to come out to show advocacy and diversity in your classroom? Even if you’re totally comfortable in your personal life, do you feel this need to be out and be an ally?
My concern is that here in Indiana, I have taught in 3 different districts over 21 years in traditional high schools & have not ever had a student teacher or Practicum observer in my computer lab classroom. The last school I left for my current career center dropped the computer science courses I spent 10 years building and refining all together. No qualified CTE teachers available. 🤷♂️
Does anyone pay to use the premium version of Peardeck? Is it a good resource to supplement classroom instruction or not worth it? Thanks for any info you can provide!
Good Evening My Fellow Christian Educators! I realize it is going to be challenging for me this year...with so many of my students performing below grade level expectations in ELA and MATH and also ensuring that all students follow the COVID Guidelines in the classroom. I still feel hopeful that God will bless me with the knowledge on how to effectively impact each one of those kids. Let's remember to keep all educators lifted in prayer this year. Have a wonderful school year!! God Bless All❤️
I'm struggling. My 2nd graders have so many behavior issues. My heart hurts for them. I don't know how to help them. They have no clue how to navigate a traditional classroom.
So I took a year off from teaching to pass the certification tests and have been working in higher ed, will it be easy for me getting back into the classroom, specifically K-2 classrooms?
I’m an elementary school teacher with 6 years in the classroom. I am looking to move into cooperate learning and development to get out of the classroom. How can I market my skills for the adult learning environment?
Wondering if other districts have taken away duty free lunches for teachers to supervise lunch in the classroom to provide social distancing.
I'm confused: we are supposed to make learning relevant and engaging for students, yet I keep getting reprimanded for including current events in the classroom. The kids are loving it and are really engaged in great debate and discussion. What's the problem?
Our school has a very diverse population, but our district and building don’t embrace it very well, so I decided to start in my own classroom. I talked to my kids about family origins and then surprised them with a flag from each country of origin. Now when they walk in there is a small representation of who they are. It also sparks conversation about where the different flags are from and shows students just how diverse we all are. So far the kids love it and we’ve had some great conversations.
At work I don’t have any problems networking and meeting new people... at home, my kids classroom moms make me feel like I’m in middle school again.. anyone else?
If you're looking for something unique to post in your digital classroom i posted an audio field trip to Mackinac Island. https://anchor.fm/josh-h/episodes/Mackinac-Island-Field-Trip-eci0nb
I have a student with autism. He is mostly behavioral and at a lower learning level so he has to be in a separate classroom. We try to let him play with the students at recess or join in class parties. He has a sibling that attends school as well. When we were waiting in car line a group of girls talked about how they feel so bad for the sibling because of my student. Thankfully, neither student or sibling heard. But how do I respond to that as an adult? Especially, if they do hear?
How do you integrate mindfulness in your classroom? Have you ever experienced a negative reaction from parents or administration?
US citizen here, and I would like to move to Europe for a couple of years. What are some big named companies (other than big 4 & MBB) that will sponsor my working visa? I would also like to move early next year. Is that unrealistic though due to COVID? TIA 😊
Any insight into EY’s IFCS practice? Thinking of applying to their open staff role from another firm, I’d be transferring out of audit.
What do you do when small local firms won’t give your resume the time of day, but everyone you ask for resume feedback on says your materials are fine? These aren’t big law or boutiques, we’re talking probably paying $20-30 an hour part time as an associate with firms of 1-3 attorneys generally. I know biglaw is recovering from COVID but has it really hurt small law so badly getting an interview is next to impossible? Any and every practice area. Work is work. Approx. 500k local population size.
Hey all! Currently live in DC and thinking about moving to either: Los Angeles, Austin, Seattle, or stay in DC. Where would you move/live considering: cost of living, housing prices, and job market. I feel like LA has a rough job market in terms of competitiveness of applications compared to DC/Austin but benefits elsewhere. Feel free to share anything else I should know! Thanks!
Anybody have an idea of compensation expectation range for Regional Coaching Consultant at Fidelity, after 2-3 years in the role?Fidelity Investments
I’ve often heard of people with mental health issues struggling with personal hygiene. Has anyone done the opposite of that? I shower up to 2 hours a day (2-4 showers), and am obsessive with oral hygiene. Kind of like washing away my feelings of guilt....
Current human capital consultant looking for a role in the Pittsburgh area. Let me know :)
Hi Strategy 🐟! Does rejecting an MBB offer hurt chances of future employment? I have 3YOE and working as a Software Engineer. Decided to pick a tech company over McKinsey but my future plan is to do MBA after 2 years with 5 YOE and then join MBB.
Since we are WFH in the US, thinking of flying to India to family and WFH from there. Any rules, specifically for L-visa holders, that prevent us from working remotely from a different country?
Can someone do something big so we have a holiday sometime between tomorrow and May? I have my faith in y’all.
Had male peer give me the “shush/wait a second motion”, kinda like the 🤚 no eye contact, when I started speaking in a client meeting as he wanted to hear what the client had to say instead. Thoughts?
International at a T15 recruiting for Tech. I only had few interviews so far and have not heard back after first rounds. Starting to panic a bit.
