You can't? Idk...; I've seen "allow use of phone for calculator purposes." I think something along the lines of "assistive reading technology," but it doesn't have to be an iPhone. There are Google Chrome extensions that do the same thing, although idk about from a picture

I’m sure if I have students with iPhones I could add it - but I work in a poor rural district and none of the students I could think of that would utilize the features have cell phones. I teach elementary also so not every kid has a cell phone yet!

Ah, I see what you mean. I also did overlook your "elementary" heading; my apologies

Snap & read does the same thing! Not sure if you are familiar with this or not.

In our district students may use phones with teachers’ permission. Students find their phones to provide more functionality and reliability than does their Chromebook.

My concern is that here in Indiana, I have taught in 3 different districts over 21 years in traditional high schools & have not ever had a student teacher or Practicum observer in my computer lab classroom. The last school I left for my current career center dropped the computer science courses I spent 10 years building and refining all together. No qualified CTE teachers available. 🤷‍♂️

Good Evening My Fellow Christian Educators! I realize it is going to be challenging for me this year...with so many of my students performing below grade level expectations in ELA and MATH and also ensuring that all students follow the COVID Guidelines in the classroom. I still feel hopeful that God will bless me with the knowledge on how to effectively impact each one of those kids. Let's remember to keep all educators lifted in prayer this year. Have a wonderful school year!! God Bless All❤️

I'm confused: we are supposed to make learning relevant and engaging for students, yet I keep getting reprimanded for including current events in the classroom. The kids are loving it and are really engaged in great debate and discussion. What's the problem?

Our school has a very diverse population, but our district and building don’t embrace it very well, so I decided to start in my own classroom. I talked to my kids about family origins and then surprised them with a flag from each country of origin. Now when they walk in there is a small representation of who they are. It also sparks conversation about where the different flags are from and shows students just how diverse we all are. So far the kids love it and we’ve had some great conversations.

I have a student with autism. He is mostly behavioral and at a lower learning level so he has to be in a separate classroom. We try to let him play with the students at recess or join in class parties. He has a sibling that attends school as well. When we were waiting in car line a group of girls talked about how they feel so bad for the sibling because of my student. Thankfully, neither student or sibling heard. But how do I respond to that as an adult? Especially, if they do hear?
