I took my first sick day at my new job. I am back today now some people are barely talking to me. Barely anyone asked if I am doing better. I find it a bit strange. Don't take it personally.. people are busy sometimes.. lol they probably did not even know you were missing.

This wasn't the culture with were I worked previously It is a bit weird to me. It seems normal to everyone else here though.

They assume you are feeling better given you are back at work, what else would they need to ask? They aren’t your parents

like

Did they know it was a sick day and not PTO? Also when I used to get migraines I hated people making a big deal out of me taking a day off and asking questions when I came back. Was only out for a day, would have been different if I was on sick leave for multiple days

like

I typically don’t say anything if someone takes a sick day and just proceed as usual. For all I know, someone could have just needed a mental health day, so I assume by the person being back that they’re well enough to work.

like

I took a day for surgery and my boss said “hope you had a nice day off”, people just don’t listen / too busy to absorb the details. Don’t take it personally

like

I don’t ask unless I am close with that colleague. Don’t want to risk asking for more details that could be sensitive to discus.

like

Op, how are you feeling today? Please don’t take it personally. They probably dont want to meddle

like

I feel much better now.

I wouldn’t ask. I’d probably forget they were out sick to begin with

like

Another possible explanation is your health status is confidential info, so unless you told your colleagues you were sick, or your out of office message specified, they wouldn’t (or shouldn’t) know. Nor is it appropriate to ask. If your presence was needed, your supervisor could advise your colleagues that you were out and they would have to wait for you to get back or otherwise workaround your absence.

like

I usually just mind my business and just say “welcome back”. Unless they personally tell me they weren’t feeling well.

like

If I'm not close to someone, I ask at the next a call I have with that person if they feel better. I don't go out of way to ping someone tbh. If someone is my work friend, then yes, I'll check up on them.

like

Is your new job Accenture or was that your old job? It’s possible they forgot with the weekend. Don’t take it personally.

Maybe your coworkers don’t really like you?

Unnecessary.

I wanted to see if anyone had experience with this recently. I left DT after my I-485 was pending for 180 days. I did my biometrics in May 2021 and my EAD card is getting mailed soon. For medical RFE, will it go to the DT law firm and will they forward me the request?

Hi Ladies! I was recently introduced to a new concept, and am curious to get thoughts of peers. Have you heard the term or ever experienced “medical gaslighting”? If so, what are your thoughts? I personally feel that it is relatively systemic, and likely impacts women more than men. What if anything can we do to push back against it?

So my wife basically said she doesn’t want to have sex anymore. Don’t want to do anything about it. After couple kids, doesn’t feel it anymore. Also said it wasn’t anything I did and there’s no one else. I understand women’s body changes after child birth but can’t help thinking it’s gonna suck being in a sexless marriage. We’re still attractive and haven’t turned into couch potatoes…yet Happy Thanksgiving!

Working as an audit staff in big 4 shared service centre. It's been 2 years. I really don't like what I do there, also it seems I won't like what I'll be doing there even after becoming senior. Thinking of leaving and joining industry once ACCA qualified. (One more paper left). But people around me discourage that growth potential and earnings in industry are way less compared to public accounting. I know that too but I still want to leave. I'd like to stick to core accounting. Thoughts pls
