I transitioned jobs to a corporate strategy role and am struggling... Everyone on my team is 10+ years older than me. Any advice on how to act like a mature 23 yo? It’s hard being the only analyst

Use the fact that you’re young and (hopefully) enthusiastic and optimistic to your advantage. At this age, it’s all about your attitude - you gain credibility not because of what you know or experiences you’ve had but because you are a fast learner, you’re always willing to try something new, and you consistently demonstrate that you’re willing to go above and beyond. As people get further along in their careers they’re less likely to show that optimism, enthusiasm, and willingness to do dirty work - so that’s where you can shine.

Would also recommend seeing if there’s a way to connect with other analysts in the company (employee resource group for young professionals, networking events, etc. ) - it’s always helpful to have that sort of support even if outside your team and they may have good ideas for how you can contribute more as well.

Side question - where did you transition into Corp strategy from? I am also interested in strategy.

Looking for advice and tips. I am due in December, will be taking a year off for mat leave. I don’t have “hobbies” and my current job wouldn’t allow part-time. The position is neither something where I could turn it into a “consulting” type of job/skill. How would I find a part-time gig if I didn’t want to go back working full-time? Hope my question makes sense

I was laid off from a resource management role, working with employees approaching or on the bench, working with managers to staff projects, and support functions like report creation, scheduling, etc. Roles like this are few and many large consulting firms have frozen internal hiring. Do you think it would be beneficial to get a SHRM cert? Would that help get a "talent related" HR role? Worth the money? I have a background in recruitment as well.

Hi, so I’ve been working as a (TCP temporary creative professional) while one of the agency’s employees was on leave. I understood it to be a FT position, clocking in, etc but last week a bunch of employees were on vacation and I didn’t get projects. My work from the week before was all approved, so I had no edits. I asked for work, reached out, etc but ended up with very few billable hours, which annoyed the bosses. Now I’m not sure how to proceed. Do I NGAF, clock in? Or wait for work?

I received an offer from Bain for the Manager role. Does it make sense to make a transition for the brand value? My goal is to exit consulting in 1-1.5 yrs. Currently, I am an AS1.5 at OW, expecting to progress either to AS3 or Engagement Manager (somewhat unclear at this point) at the EoY. My content focus has been in FS (where Bain is less strong in my country) and Private Equity areas.

Career advice: I became an HR mgr/BP relatively early on in my career so have 7 years BP exp. and 9 overall. I work in pharma as a Sr. BP/manager now. I’d like to make a move into an AD or higher role but seem to only get consideration for lateral moves. Not sure if it’s because I don’t have enough experience or if I’ve never had direct reports? How did you make that first jump? I’d need to relocate for anything at my current org which is not possible for me right now. Thanks for insights!
