.....them choosing hip, hot-shit ad agencies. It’s like buying a Ferrari when you’re just going make Costco runs with it.
They will buy the best then those not acquired will slowly disappear
Because it’s not about the work. They’re just trying to get attention.
We're not talking about life, we're talking about business.
What some are missing is that traditional marketing and creativity have been devalued. Did you see that Unilever is getting rid of the top marketing role in their organization? CMO roles are being phased out for Chief Growth Officers. The writing has been on the wall for sometime, but unfortunately Marcom agencies are so downstream from the real business conversations happening inside of client orgs, many didn’t see the signs or are just waking up.
S1 exactly. But I see minimal sign of waking up in these threads. I see a lot of denial and delusion. It reminds me of the psych saying “ when we fight with reality, we lose 100% of the time.”
There’s no risk here for them. If it works, great. If it doesn’t work, they still get the best designers, writer, bullshitters, etc who never would’ve gone into consulting. This is a 3-5 year project, depending on how long it takes for the real talent to realize wtf just happened to them.
Homogenization.
The platitudes in the interview with DrogaWhipple are pretty underwhelming and disappointing. Consultancy buzzword, agency edge mash-up with little substance. Droga gets to now access a new level of client/work, while also getting to feel the pain of the Accenture meat grinder.
Not sure how creative ideas thrive in that space.
Creative still means more than service and experience design.
Will be interesting to watch, if not frustrating.
