I understand we have an honor system with return to office. I have a quite a few coworkers who haven’t taken the vaccine (lots of antivaxxers here) who have made it clear they intend to lie in order to return to office/client site. Is this normal at other firms or is this BAH only?

I have no idea if it is normal, but it’s awful that’s for sure. Unless my employer is verifying vaccination status, I won’t be going in to the office. Full stop. They are obliged to take steps to create a safe work environment, so just as I wouldn’t go to the office if I knew it was full of asbestos, I won’t be going in if it’s full of unvaccinated people in the midst of a pandemic.

EY1, which medical school did you attend? I’m getting my advice from a Harvard Medical School epidemiologists, HMS researchers, nurses, and USC ER doctor. Do you know something from your extensive time treating patients with COVID and studying the spread of disease that they don’t? If so, I’d love to put you in touch with them. I’m sure they’d love to brainstorm your top ideas.

If your anti vax beliefs are strong enough that you’d rather risk getting COVID than getting the shot, fine. But you absolutely do not have the right to make a choice that puts others at risk. If your employer or your client says “you can’t do your job from home forever, and we’re going to require proof of vaccination from everyone who comes into the office because we think that’s the right thing to do to keep everyone safe,” then that’s that. You can choose your job or your “principles.” Others shouldn’t have to choose their job or their safety so that you can have your “principles.” And if your beliefs are that strong, you should be willing to make that stand and admit that you haven’t gotten it, and accept whatever consequences come your way. That’s what it means to back up your beliefs.

The honor system part is normal. The large population of lying antivaxxers part is not a feature of most consulting firms.

Lol. Right. Because consultants don't lie 😝

The anti-vaxers who return to office markless piss me off. A friend at a financial services firm had an idiot return to the office with symptoms, no max, and no everyone who was in contact is pissed off / scared. I think people should be fired for this or at the very least have it recorded in HR files. If you want to do it fine, but if your around me where a mask.

EY, first you are playing with the numbers by willy nilly changing the denominator. Out of the total population, around 400 people are struck each year (40-50 die BTW). Out of just children, around 350 have died so far (over 4 million have been infected) with around a 0.9% hospitalization rate and a 0.01% - 0.03% death rate. This is with many limitations in reporting age data. For the record, I don’t let my kids play outside in a thunderstorm either. I don’t take unnecessary risks with their well being, death being a major one, but long COVID isn’t worth it either.

Is this serious? My company and client haven’t even requested vaccination status, let alone required and enforced it. Don’t think leaving will solve your problem if you want 100% vaccination at work

Yes, all Accenture employees were recently required to respond to a mandatory survey.

I don’t want to raise this with my leadership, I think I’m just gonna resign and take my chances in the job market. I’d rather nit be associated with this mess or a leadership structure that allows this.

Quiting doesn't help you. There you know the unethical people. If you change jobs there is no way to know who the jerks are. I'm sure your firm has an ethics line, adult up and use it.

It’s not currently mandatory to come into the office at all at this time! And it seems very few clients are asking anyone to come in

Agree with this comment. I have to go to client site starting this week, but it seems rare. I know very few people that have had to go into an office!

All Accenture employees are required to respond to a mandatory survey they sent out. I did read a few anti-vaxxer responses here in this app that suggested they intended on lying. However, when it gets down to access, they are probably going to be required to show proof of vaccination if the client requires it.

Guess we are about to find out!

Weird, I’ve actually heard more people lying that they aren’t vaxed so they don’t have to go in 😂

funny

I like to play a game with those types. Cough loudly around them and see if they get uncomfortable.

Citi plans on either: 1) Require proof of vaccination 2) Take an at home covid test 3x per week, submit, and wear mask in the office. I think it’s a pretty good policy. At least in nyc, there’s an app that helps verify vaccination because they have your vaccine dates/times logged.

I’m sure this is prevalent in all consulting firms. People are going to lie. I’m not going into the office for this exact reason. Texas here

Has anyone successfully caught an associate falsifying time? I initially became suspicious because the amount of office chit chat I’ve witnessed and nature of social media postings (frequent bar trips midweek) wasn’t adding up with his alleged hours billed. I've become really jaded about consulting. Accenture people, what is our automatic status level with Hilton? I normally stay at Starwoods, but booking at a Hilton for next week.
