I usually like Jonathan Pollard’s posts, but his latest post about taking his time was so cringe and out of touch. He called himself a genius. Why do people do this? 🤦‍♂️

linkedin is so humble braggish now and most of it is cringe worthy… posts like this: “I was on the hiring team for this position… and the candidate showed up 2 hours late. She said that she didn’t have bus money, and walked 7 miles in a hurricane for this interview, and was a single mom to 5 kids, had worked her way through college, and also one of her kids was in the hospital, and her husband died last year, and their house was destroyed in a tornado. The hiring manager said “NO!” when I said we should still let her interview despite being 2 hours late. I insisted. We ended up hiring her. 5 years later she is our CFO.” Or the posts about someone buying someone’s coffee at mcdonald’s 😬 or tipping someone $100 at a drive thru of any kind 🤮 the self promotion is nauseating.

Arrogance. People get enough followers on social media or enough dollars in the bank and they start to assume they’re just better than other people. I’ve found people suddenly forget about all the other things in life that helped them get where they are aside from raw intelligence, because there are plenty of intelligent people.

What is his specialty again? Is he actually advising anyone, or is he a LinkedIn influencer by trade?

And now he’s bragging about how he’s done “$3 million worth of pro bono legal work” in the comments. He needs to get a grip.

😂 that’s good

People who need to tell you they’re that smart are just telling you they aren’t. If I were a client of his reading that he charges me so much money so he can take a long walk with a cigar while “thinking” about my matter, I’d be firing him immediately.

I find his posts unbearable.

Anyone notice how he refers to biglaw as BIGLAW lol “When I was in BIGLAW….” Like bro calm down

But it’s so BIG!

It’s either an online personality or some delusions of grandeur (or both). He’ll brag about litigating billion dollar cases. He was at Boies for like three years, so he wasn’t doing much there himself. And he definitely isn’t doing them in his firm now.

The only two people I’ve ever heard to refer to themself as a genius are Kanye West and Jonathan Pollard.

A very stable genius, that one.

His posts are obnoxious. Grade-A narcissist.

I like him a lot but he clearly has delusions of grandeur. For sure has a personality disorder, also likely on stimulants lmao

Any thoughts on finance in P&G or Unilever? Some people says they are mainly marketing / brand companies, so finance is less important (but the ceo is a finance person in P&G??). Also, many people say that the job is so boring and repetitive.. Actually, I'm planning to move from consulting, mostly because of work-life balance. I'm sure it's more boring, but I think it's not a bad opportunity. What are your thoughts?

My parent is sick with dementia. I can tolerate high level of stress when I'm called names, sent to h... etc.. but I keep everything inside. It's been that way for a long while now. Today my cup of tolerance has overflown when I was giving my parent a bath. I was so angry that I was shaken and I forced my parent to bath... I yelled and said things I would never say otherwise. I know I'm wrong and it's a disease, but I just couldn't help it... now.. the work time comes... I couldn't concentrate... tears just flowing from my eyes. Which I totally deserve. I'm glad I was working from home today. It got to the point that I just don't want to see that anymore... I just don't want to wake up. I just want to escape of my thoughts and my feelings...

I will be joining Infosys this Thursday as a 7+ YOE Tech Lead. I am an avid trekker and every year I go on a trek at least once which requires me to take a 5-7 working days off. Its actually my passion.

Just wanted to know how difficult it is to get leaves approved and officially before how many days do i need to inform my manager?

Is there any SOP for applying leaves at Infy?

Thank you in advance!

Small firm: boss, myself, paralegal. Paralegal’s family lends paralegal $ for a transaction. Paralegal pays it before other party holds up their end of deal. Paralegal needs $ because family needs it back & think she still has it since deal isn’t done. I let paralegal borrow money (cover my a** with documentation). First payment is weeks late and only made on demand. Month 2 not paid. Month 3 is overdue a few days. Should I file suit? Loop in my boss? Other options? It’s 2/3 my total savings.

I’m at a mid sized regional firm. Partner I work with only wants to do litigation but it doesn’t keep all the associates busy. So, he takes on whatever random projects come he gets calls on, but will say things like “we gotta pretend like we’ve done this a thousand times.” It makes me uncomfortable because we haven’t and it’s specialized things like doing all the filings to establish an HMO (which we don’t do). He then ghosts and we’re left trying to figure it all out. Is this normal?

This is the most basic question, so yep, I’m asking you to take it easy on me when you reply. I have been practicing for about 5 years total. I have been in civil practice for 2 years. These 2 years have been the most demoralizing, unfulfilling 2 years of my life. I have been giving myself pep talks to find the “positive” spin on it but firm life isn’t for me. I know networking is key but do you have some thoughts/suggestions on how to make an exit...crying at therapy is becoming too much.
