Eat less, maintain a caloric deficit. There’s absolutely no reason to not lose.
Chief
losing weight is about a calorie deficit. you won’t burn as many calories walking as running but you’ll still burn calories. and eat slightly less. there’s no magic.
I feel like after running so much over a long period of time it has changed the appearance of my stomach and slimmed down my waist though and I’m afraid it will all come back by just walking
I walk, i don’t run. It’s still beneficial and has helped with weight loss. You still burn calories and can walk the same distance as running it, will just take you more time.
Walking might not feel as satisfying as a run or burn as many calories but I think when working around an injury it’s still useful in keeping active and it is after all only temporary. I was a runner who developed a stress fracture last fall, it was bad enough that it took me from the end of September until the end of December to even get approved to start running half a mile twice a week, i was also not allowed to do any lower body exercise during that time. I supplemented my runs with kneeling or sitting strength training and boxing. If you’re looking for a way to get your heart rate up it could be worth trying! Best of luck!
