Bad long term investment. Eat crap to save a few $$ and for what? To have health issues down the line that sacrifice life quality?
And $$$$ in healthcare costs
$3 for a nutritious meal. I get a bag of salad from the grocery store and usually meal prep salmon, tilapia and shrimp to add one type to my salad.
Pro
Agree, usually 6-8 dollars each. A good deal to spread across several meals, especially with salad or even carb
I eat like a peasant during the week then find myself dropping $500 on a sushi date on the weekend

Report back: after SC2 mentioned there a such a thing, I took my wife to Sushi Noz. I would say we reached a consensus on verdict: interesting experience, glad we did it, don’t need to do it again, incremental quality of food/ambience not worth the incremental cost, back to $14.99 bento boxes for splurge nights and Chef Hubby for all others.
You are what you eat.

If you’re saying you eat fast food everyday that’s horrible. Either cook or get something better for takeout.
Stop by your local grocery store and get yourself a $5/$6 whole cooked chicken, get some frozen vegetables and potatoes/rice and that can feed you for like 3 days.. no reason no to at least try to eat healthy
People throw away a lot of food that can easily make a full meal. Just look near restaurants. I haven’t paid for food in three years and never eat fast food.
Honestly I’ve joined clubs of different nationalities/ethnicities just because it’s fun to immerse myself in different cultures. Usually super receptive to people who want to learn and experience something different.

Yeah… after a year and a half of lockdowns and home cooked meals, I miss my restaurant, expensed meals.
How bad could you miss a $6 meal?
Pasta most nights — cheap + easy
Cooking yourself is always the cheapest and healthier. Plus, if you are single you might be able to practice the art to impress someone when time is right.

When I was fresh out of school working at a boutique for less than $40k/yr, I would decline team dinner and eat as cheaply as possible to pocket per diems.
While I would occasionally get fast food, I'd go grocery shopping when I arrived in at the city and buy cheap stuff that's healthier than fast food. Fruit, sandwich supplies, etc. I also used the free Holiday Inn breakfast each day. I spent about $15 a day and pocketed the other $30 each day.
That extra money was a life saver in my early 20s.
Haha
Oh man, my martinis run $20 each on average.

$1.50 for a hot dog and soda at either Sam’s or Costco (though Costcos are hit-or-miss if you’re not a member; some let in non-members, some don’t.)
$2 for two cheeseburgers and a Powerade at McDonald’s
Those are my favorite cheap combos

Oh I go to Wendy’s too rarely. Love the Jr. Bacon Cheeseburgers and the baked potatoes.

I make most of my meals at home

What firm pays you so little that you can't afford good as a manager 🥲
Spending money just because you have it is a great way to no longer have it.

Pasta or rice and chicken/beef + veggies will cost you less than $3 when made at home
Pro
A roast chicken from Costco is $5 and it can last like 6 meals. You can spend the rest on veggies

Lol.. the short sightedness here is hilarious
If you have good genes, you may be able to overcome bad cheap diet. Otherwise spend a little more for your own sake.
D2 - I’d say if you have good genes then it may take longer to ruin your health but ultimately, you ruin your health by not taking in the nutrients that nourish your body and mind. It’s a fact that fast food doesn’t provide these nutrients. Neither do supplements btw.

It's easier when I'm home since my wife preps most meals and she's pretty healthy.
When I'm traveling, I usually end up staying at a hotel room with a kitchen (e.g. Residence Inn) and just get groceries.
I enjoy cooking and so it is both cheap and it allows me to stay healthy since I can watch what I eat.
