I vest in my pension this August after 10 years as a partner. How excited should I be?

Wait you’ve been a partner long enough for the pension to have vested AND have a 120k annuity about to become available and you can’t retire for another 7-10 years? Do you need solid gold toilets in all 8 of your houses?

likefunny

😂

I’d be pretty excited - when can you retire? Are you?

like

Thanks S1. Probably feasible in the next 7-10 years.

LIFEGOALS! Congrats.

You are closer to death

funny

You should celebrate. It’s a major accomplishment and setting you up for retirement

like

Depending on the size of that pension

Now that you are vested, leave and be a client somewhere or an alliance lead on the other side of the tech firm.

But also congrats, that’s great!

Again ,whatchu gonna do with all the dollahs

Hi everyone, I want to do a sense check on my paycheck and taxes. I am a staff 2 in tech consulting at EY in Chicago with 1.5 YOE. Current base salary is $91.2k and with RACs etc I am right around $95k. I contribute $250/month to my 401k which EY matches. My total comp according to the Better Me dashboard is ~$105k However, my take home each month after taxes is ~$2.4k. The ADP app tells me that 32.5% goes to taxes and my gross pay is 67.5%. This just doesn’t seem right…anyone help explain?

Or try find another career path that I could be interested and can learn grow but may give up WLB?

Is it a bad look as a senior associate (on the path to manager within a year) to be driving an expensive car like a C7 or C8 corvette that is $70k+? I don’t think it is and here’s my rationale. I’m making over 6 figures, maxing out my 401k and IRA accounts with extra $ going to a brokerage account, I have a 3BR 1300 sq foot home with finished basement and garage for $170k. My two loans are only $240k combined. Heck most people spend more on a house alone. Work remote so vette isn’t daily driver.

Would love to hear from moms whose babies went to daycare / school right after maternity leave (no nanny etc). Due in March and on the list for a stellar Montessori daycare / preschool near us to start in August (school year) when baby is 4-5 months old. Feeling guilty and struggling to decide if keeping baby home a year with a nanny is better, starting school in 2023? However, I’m worried about cost - we really would not be able to afford a nanny in our city on our salaries. Advice welcome!

Plan on setting up llc as well for tax benefits. Since this is the first time we are doing this, we are looking for any applicable advice or lessons learned from folks who have done this before, Tia!

I have about 30% of my 401K in a target date fund which hasn’t moved the needle much. Wondering if I should “sell” 10% of the target date fund, hold money in a money market and then wait for a dip to buy more S&P. Note - this is all done within the 401K portfolio. I am not cashing out of 401K.

I'm a little annoyed. there are sooo many Instagram accounts for moms-to-be, new moms but not a single account for dad-to-be or new dad's, the dad accounts I did find were all based on funny memes with kids. Not a single account with how to care for a baby or how to be a supportive pregnancy partner or parenting. This research basically started because my husband said he doesn't need to know all these things as it's a woman's role and lack of similar accounts men is proof that he doesn't need to

If the government really wanted to end Covid they should’ve given contracts to popular US clothing brands like: Nike, Under Armor, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfinger, Calvin Klein, The North Face, etc. Point being, if these brands designed their own masks in bulk people would be more inclined to wear “their favorite brand” opposed to a surgical mask or no mask at all.
