I walked into work yesterday and noticed that all of the food was left on the table from Friday morning tea (I wasn’t at work) it’s so annoying to be expected that I will be the one that will clean up the office after every office event. I was pissed

I would leave it until someone else cleans it up. You aren't their mom. Don't become the office momager that is charge of these things. It will only hurt you.

like

Simple don't clean it. You're not the office mother, if you job ants to have food and gatherings then they can clean up after themselves, if you keep cleaning their messes, they will keep leaving them for you

like

Then don’t do it

We train others how to treat us, so make your stand and show them what you expect. If the mess is bothersome, organize a cleanup effort that doesn't rely on YOU doing the cleaning.

They do that because they are expecting you to clean it up anyway. Sometimes we are unaware that we are teaching them something unconsciously. Let them clean their mess. Don't even touch it.

Don't touch it.

I wouldn't do it. I don't understand why it is your job. Especially if you weren't even there. That is aboslutely ridiculous.

I just want to make decent money, no stress, and live happily since people around me die so unexpectedly & so young.

I am struggling with the fact that I have 13 years of HR experience in one capacity or another, along with a bachelors degree and my PHR designation yet companies say “I’m not qualified or they ghost me when I apply for HR openings. I am experienced in all aspects of HR. How are people with little to no experience coming right out of college obtaining higher level roles than I have currently? It makes my passion for the field just go away.

Hi everyone! Just looking for some insight. I’m about 4 years into HR, have my bachelors. I’ve been toying around with the idea of getting my masters in something relating to compliance/labor law and that side of HR. Shrm certification is also on my list. If anyone has some advice on what to get a masters in specifically, I’d be open to suggestions! I’m trying to find something that would be worth my while and would give me a step up. Thanks!

Looking for Advice: I am an HR Associate at a midsized company. I was just informed that our HR Generalist put in their resignation. My boss (HR Director) let me know that I am going to be taking on more responsibilities (previous responsibilities of the Generalist role). I’m wondering… should I request a role change or ask for a bigger salary/more compensation? What is appropriate in this situation?
Any advice is appreciated. :)

What is the best feedback(or feedback you’ve heard) to provide to a rejected candidate who is a close second but the other candidate just seems to be a bit better cultural fit?

We would’ve offered both if we had 2 roles

My CEO is looking to tighten up our work from home program and get people back into the office more. Most are out 3 to 4 days a week. It's not that they aren't working, but we are missing the energy you get as a collective. I suggested 3 days in office 2 days out and the 3rd week of the month is a hell week, everyone is in 5 days!!! (Of course i wouldn't say that publicly, just for the explanation of this scenario) Any suggestions. I would love to know if anyone else is in a similar situation

I am a Senior People (HR) Business Partner working in NYC under an H-1B visa (9 years of experience). I am looking for something new, but I am finding it extremely difficult to find a company who would support an H-1B Change of Employer (COE). I either get declined immediately as part of the application process or get told the company does not support visa sponsorship for non-tech roles. Any tips, tricks, or great companies where an H-1B COE would not be an issue?

I’d like to be prepared for the initial phone screen convo, which will only last 20-30 minutes. The JD shows the salary range as 110-130(USD) commensurate with experience, but I’m happy to land anywhere in that range—yet I don’t think it’s good to disclose that. How can I tactfully still talk to the recruiter about landing closer to 130? Not trying to be greedy, but certainly aiming high!

For those that passed the SHRM-CP/SCP - how did you prepare to pass? How long did you study for- did you take any prep classes etc. How did you decide CP vs SCP
