Sometimes when I want to order something from Uber eats. I scroll and scroll to find something I like. Then I try to figure out what else to get since I cant just get 1 dish.
Sometimes by the time I figure it out it's too late. And restaurant doesn't deliver any more or its just too late in general.

I think Costco had a good idea to limit choices so we don't get overwhelmed. Paradox of choice is a book that talks about that same topic. Having more choices may actually not be better.

We can hold 7(+ or - 2) numbers/words/letters whatever in our heads and remember them. This might explain the paradox of choice, but it sounds like you need a ranked master list of stuff you want to do and make your way down the list. Similarly, you can set up incentives or punishments for yourself for (not) doing those things

I was literally just thinking this. I wrote myself a to-do list this weekend and all I did was manage to cook a good meal

Update: this meal turned out not-so-good 😭😭

It really makes me wish for a 4-day work week. That extra day to actually get stuff done while being able to take days to recharge is much needed. I think we all need days to rest up and do nothing for our mental/emotional well-being, but that makes it difficult to do anything productive outside of our day-jobs, unless one is very disciplined and motivated.

And this is in a remote working environment, it was way worst when we were traveling. I felt like I had 1.5 days to myself. Saturday, and half of Sunday. Sunday 5pm I would start packing, checking-in for flight, confirming hotel bookings, checking calendar for the week, etc etc. then catching a 6am flight Monday AM

Need a 4 day week. Fri you vegetate or zone out, then do stuff on Sat - 0.5 Sun before the scaries hit late on Sunday

Thank you and glad I'm not alone in this predicament. For folks who shared tips and experiences, thank you. Let me spend the rest of the weekend being anxious that the clock's ticking to the weekday.

Pro tip - make a list and put the easiest ones upfront. Then knock those off an use the momentum to scale the rest of the list..

I've been working for 3 years since graduation and the first 2 years I worked in aviation consultancy. Mostly doing data/BI analysis but my main title and job was airport planner. I've made a move to the data science team and have been working as a data scientist for just over a year now and I'm only earning £37k.
I want to make a jump to a higher paid data science role but I feel a bit insecure that 2/3yrs of my experience is not in data science.

Excel geniuses, I need help! I have a column with a couple thousand rows. Each row has cells with a long line of misc data. I need to filter out only an alphanumeric term (1 letter followed by 6 numbers) from that column. Is there an easy way to do this or should I be looking to use VBA or something? Thanks in advance, and please be nice because I’m an Excel idiot :)

I have major pandemic burnout. I hate how we are expected to work at the same level as prepandemic. I was able to at the beginning but this second winter busy season is kicking my ass. We only have a month and a week left but I don’t know how I’ll deal with the next month. I feel that I’m going way too slow. I end up not taking breaks because I don’t feel like I can and that I am wasting time if I do. My mental health is in the toilet. Any suggestions?

I’m a very experienced veterinary assistant who has been doing this job for about 4 years in total (almost 2 at this place) however because of my skill level I would say I am more of an unlicensed technician as I do all things they do. I’m looking for input on what I should ask for a raise. Given the minimum wage, I make about $5 over but that hasn’t really changed to match inflation of living, etc and truly feel like I should be making a decent amount more given my skills. Any helpful advice?

I have a 3 month old at home and my husband has her while I work upstairs but he goes back to work from his leave in a couple of weeks and I’ll be home to be with her and work. I’m nervous about it and just want to see what options I have - external childcare is not one of them at the moment.

I received a message on LinkedIn from an internal recruiter at a company that sounded intriguing. Would it be bad form to ask for more information about the role and about comp up front? I wasn’t looking to leave my firm until later next year at the earliest, but the company sounds really interesting. Don’t want to waste a lot of time if the comp isn’t right, though.
