During salary negotiations with Infosys. HR : what is the offer you holding? Me : 40 HR : We would not be able to match that. Me : yes I understand, but you need to compensate me on some other parameters, maybe onsite opportunity. You cannot say since this is Infosys, take 30 or leave. HR : no, the max we can offer is 26. 😸😸

How do you ask for points?

Hm, quite the broad question.
Figure out which airline you want to fly; NBO is dominated by Kenya Airways but for the best business class experience I would look into Air France, Emirates, Etihad, and I would even go as far as saying British Airways if you can get on their new hard product. Believe it’s only out of Toronto at the moment, perhaps JFK rollout has begun.
Use awardhacker and go from there
If you want to earn EQMs, book via the portal - essentially using points as cash.
If you simply want an airline reward, transfer to an airline partner and redeem miles there - no EQMs will be earned on the reward travel.
Start by looking up what airline you want to fly and points required. Usually get bang bang for your buck by transferring points
Going to offer an alternative perspective - the best way to fly to Nairobi from the US is on an airplane.
Kenya Airways now flies non-stop from NY to Nairobi. Transferring to flying blue might be a good option. I’d first see what airline you can find award availability on and then transfer points to the lowest cost transfer partner
Lots of great advice above, but based on the original question - I think taking a step back is useful. Recommend you get a CSR card, not CSP. You earn more points, and can redeem them for greater value in the Chase Portal. Best bet is to transfer the point to an airline and book directly as a reward booking (depends on which airline). Read up on TPG, which is filled with advice and how to’s.
Thanks everyone. So it’s best to transfer the Chase points to an airline vs booking through the portal? I thought I read the reverse but may have misunderstood.
Correct. This is especially true if you are trying to book business class. You can always compare the portal price (which is just a conversion of the cash fare from Expedia) and the mileage cost from the airline, before your transfer the miles.
