no. buy clothes that fit u. if u want to get in better shape to wear something u want, use that as motivation (e.g. “once i lose 10 lb, i’ll buy that pair of jeans”). but don’t ever waste ur money on something that doesn’t fit.
So… I find a look that I like and go to target to get the look, cheaper. Wearing cheap jeans/shirts/etc motivates me to lose weight and get the ‘nice stuff’.
Worked so far - down 29lbs from COVID and up 7lbs of muscle 💪
I keep trying this and now I have a bunch of clothes in my closet that don’t fit my fat ass
You can look good in any shape if you have the right clothes
Get in shape FIRST then spend on clothes. Eg. I lost 10lbs but went from a 30 to a 32 because of squats
No sure how much you plan on losing but you could opt for nice clothes that are more relaxed style.
Urban fashion has always been less form fitting.
I had this thought for years and never lost the weight. I decided to just buy clothes that fit me now so I look professional rather than continuing to wear ill fitting clothes in hopes of something that so far hasn’t happened. I can buy new clothes again if I ever do lose the weight.
I suggest to make your fitness motivation more about mindset and health. Start with 1 week of great diet and daily exercise - realize the impact it has on basically everything you do. Just a week, then another week, then another.
Good quality and well-fitted clothing will make you feel better about presenting yourself at any level of fitness and health, so suggest buying what fits now.
Is there any mens clothes Rent the Runway type subscription? It’s great - nice clothes in the size you are now but you aren’t stuck with them if you lose weight.
😊 good point. Ok buy the clothes and sell on Poshmark
In my opinion, clothing is not an investment, it's a spend no matter how good they make us look. So I wouldn't worry about buying larger sizes and instead consider why it is making you feel not too good about yourself. Don't let size mess with your confidence. History shows that most healthy females gain weight with age. It's a natural thing.
For me to even start working out, I have to buy a new outfit just to get my lazy ass out there. (I am not a sedentary type but I value my free time and don't want to spend it at a gym or on a restrictive diet).
If your BMI range suggests that you are approaching obesity then it's a matter of health and you probably want to chat with your Dr about next steps.
Most importantly, think about what defines you and what makes you valuable to your family and friends. I guarantee you it's not your weight/shape.
It's a investment if it's a Burberry wool coat or Chanel tweed jacket
Buy clothes that fit! I went through this in the pandemic. Gained some weight and had to get rid of a lot of stuff. Buying and wearing clothes that fit helped me feel better about myself and have been a good motivation to lose.
Before pandemic I was a w33. I had gotten up to a w37 😨.
Now I’m back to a w34 and shedding.
Depends, if you're looking to loose <10 lbs, clothes will only look better on you. Over 10 lbs, imo, may require size adjustment.
Why? So you can be even more disappointed when you don’t lose weight?
If you want to make a lifestyle change, you have to do it yourself. Not find something else to do it for you.
The reason you’re not in the shape you want tk be in is because you keep making excuses for your habits.
That said, be happy who you are and the good things you have in life. Life is too short to put yourself in a cycle of self-disappointment. Either make changes or get over it.
I'm telling you, that 'I'll buy this now and loss 15. Lbs for it' shit never works.
