I want to learn about genuine morning routines. Not the 2am every day to lick Himalayan salt of the back of my foam roller to renergise the mind and soul etc etc. What are your morning routines and how does it impact your day. Thank you kindly

6:30 - Wake (or 6:15 if at the BF's so I can get home by 6:30)

6:35 - 15:30: Solid work, with just a quick pause to pull overnight oats or salad out of the fridge for breakfast and lunch.

15:30 - 16:45: Excercise before the trails and gym get crowded. Or sometimes keep working this time and finish around 16:30 and head to the cycling trail. Depends on the day.

16:45 to 18:00: combination of work and/or catching up on personal things or working on the charity I lead. Or if I worked straight through earlier take this time to exercise and go straight into my evening.

18:00 on: Make dinner, hang out with the BF or friends, evening cocktails, maybe 30 minutes of emails.

If it's a Friday I pretty much stop at 15:00 and start going out for drinks with friends. If I have meetings later in the afternoon I might head to a bar and have drinks and do conference calls there. I'd honestly rather slack off on Friday and do two or three hours of work over the weekend. Gives my team a little Time to get things done Friday afternoon and then I can answer them over the weekend. While I'm getting to relax Friday afternoon.

I also often take time out to do volunteer stuff during the day. If for some reason I'm not busy enough to hit 40 hours that week, I don't exactly take that out of my eight hours. But certainly if I've already hit my eight hours I take that out of the time I'm billing that day.

I know my schedule is kind of weird, but I just prefer to knock out my eight hours right away then after that feel more free to enjoy myself.

This is the most relatable one

like

6:00 - my first alarm is ringing -> snooze
7:00 - my second Alarm is ringing -> snooze
8:00 - I wake up, bc there are like 20 alarms giving me hell
8:10 - shower, morning beauty stuff and listening to a business news podcast
8:30 - making myself a frenchpress full of coffee
8:40 - sitting in front of my laptop

likefunny

Seriously how are like 70% of you doing like 8 hrs a day? Am I the only one whoโ€™s work day starts at 7am and ends at 10pm?? Am I the only one doing 15hrs a day over here??

like

I prioritize family over work and moving to Slalom where that is encouraged and accepted, for the most part.

like

5am - wake up, make coffee, read news
6am - get ready for a run
6:30am - better be out of the house and running
7:30am - back and showering, stretch, second cup of coffee
8:00am - at my computer getting work done
10am - break time, hang out with kids, check on their school schedules and work due
12pm - lunch and hopefully short nap
4pm - log off, hubs goes for run and I get to play and hangout with children/maybe dinner prep
5pm - family workout then if Iโ€™m lucky - glass of wine after
6pm - dinner
7pm - games
8pm - kids go to bed
9pm - adult time and tv watching
10pm - bed

I may modify to a morning walk and sleep in an hour one day a week to catch up on sleep. My weekends are sleeping until 8-10am, with longer runs / walks usually.

Me too, ey8. Me too.

Youโ€™re all so put together!
Mine is sleep 1-2am
Sleep through all my alarms and frantically make coffee at 8:50 am. Have my first call in a dressing gown with my coffee hating life.
Usually feel alright for the day by about 9:30

Yes!! I wanna hug you. At what age becomes the norm to go to sleep at 10pm? I'm 27 and never go to bed earlier than 12.30-1am

I believe in taking care of myself, and a balanced diet and a rigorous exercise routine. In the morning, if my face is a little puffy, Iโ€™ll put on an ice pack while doing my stomach crunches. I can do a thousand now. After I remove the ice pack I use a deep pore cleanser lotion. In the shower I use a water activated gel cleanser, then a honey almond body scrub, and on the face an exfoliating gel scrub. Then I apply an herb-mint facial masque which I leave on for 10 minutes while I prepare the rest of my routine. I always use an after shave lotion with little or no alcohol, because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older. Then moisturizer, then an anti-aging eye balm followed by a final moisturizing protective lotion.

This whole routine is hot garbage without sun screen. Go home Christian Bale.

630 - alarm goes off
645 - make coffee and let the dogs out (shout out Baha men)
7 - drink coffee

9 - turn on laptop
901 - reject all morning video or conf calls (they all could have been emails anyways)

๏ฟผSo you guys donโ€™t just roll outta bed onto your laptop by 9ish after snoozing 20 alarms? Ugh I really need to find a reason to get up in the morning.

like

100% a roll out of bed by 8:45 am AND take 45 min lunch type of person but I have a client that lets me do my thing bc Iโ€™ve been with them so long instead of having a million meetings

For me it starts in the evenings. I drink melatonin infused tea around 945-10 and am hopefully lights out before 11. I also read a fiction novel to get to sleep leaving my phone out of the bedroom. I wake up between 715-730. Walk the dog, drink green tea (canโ€™t do much caffeine), and shower between all 730-845. I also enjoy turning on CNBC just as background noise. I usually make breakfast and eat between 845-930 while Iโ€™m getting into my work day. I prefer to workout after work to get the stress out. The biggest thing for me is our new puppy - heโ€™s 10 months old and we got him during the quarantine period. Our guy wakes up whether we want to or not; and as a result Iโ€™ve trained myself to get to bed on time.

like

M9 false. Habit forming refers to needing to have it to achieve an outcome, i.e., get to sleep. I believe what happens is the body stops producing it itself if you take it as a supplement over a long period of time, so you become dependent on it. Just FYI.

Get dressed
Go home

I haven't seen anyone say this so-

Lick Himalayan salt off the back of your foam roller at 2 am? What

I just couldn't get over that part

7 or 8pm.... really not advocating her sleep schedule but it works for her..

M-F
3:50: Wake up
4:30-6:00: Swim practice
6:30-7:15 on T/TH: Nap if I can fall asleep
6:30-7:15 on M/W/F: Get the kid ready for daycare and take him
7:15-7:30: Small breakfast
7:30: Start working

I'm usually fading by lunchtime (11:00 for me), so I have my one caffeine of the day, a diet Snapple, and that *usually* keeps me going the rest of the day. I swim coach from 5:00-8:30 in the evenings M-Th, so I usually just grab a quick bite as soon as I get home from the pool in the evening then go straight to bed.

I've been in industry for a while now, so this whole schedule is actually pretty manageable, though I am always running on somewhat of a sleep deficit.

likefunny

When I hit the sack between 9:00-9:30, I very rarely have a problem falling asleep very quickly. I usually read for ~15 minutes and talk with my wife, then I zonk out seemingly within 30 seconds once I close the Kindle app.

Is it really a routine if you don't have a checklist?
