I’m in a rather peculiar situation. I have been in the HR field going on 4 years, I have over 11 years of management experience, I got my PHR last year and I recently graduated with my MBA with a concentration in HR this month. I am ready for a more challenging role. However, there doesn’t seem to be much available at my current company. However, I am going on 5 months pregnant with the expectation of being out in October. I feel like once I mentioned my pregnancy I was in a holding pattern.

How do you go about answering the question "why do you want to work for our company"?

Do you look up the company's recent news and social media? Read over their mission statement? Sometimes I feel like this method is kind of disingenuous.

I prefer to be asked why do you want this job, because I can genuinely say things that I like about the role.

Thoughts?

Remote vs in person for software developers in their early career. I started my career in 2021 fully remote. After the office opened again in 2022, I was able to learn a lot about the system from other people in the office and solve bugs faster. Without a doubt made my job easier. Lots of my colleagues still work from home in 2022. I can’t see why they are making it harder for themselves on purpose. I’m fairly confident they can afford to get to the office because they have teslas and shit.

I think I've failed twice in answering these correctly in my interviews
This is for a Visual designer's position
1. What was the breakpoint for design
2. Did you design the components and design system?
3. How was your handoff to developers (I've never one that)
4. Wht was the most challenging part of this project.
5. What is something you would re-design if you were to go back.

I don't know if this really belongs here, but I need advice. I recently took a role and I'm absolutely miserable. The fit is awful, I feel a bit bamboozled about some of the requirements that they really avoided mentioning in the interview process it seems, i.e. the state of their tech, way longer hours than expected. I want to look for a place where I'll be happy, but I don't want to ditch this company after 3 weeks. Can I look elsewhere, or is that horrible?

I hit my one year at my company on the 15th of November. I had lunch with my boss on the 10th and he mentioned a raise but not how much or when it would be effective.

Flash forward to now, we’ve had 2 paychecks since then and I haven’t received anything. He said last week he would let me know this week, but I’m getting frustrated.

He’s raising my billing rate effective Jan. 1, and I’m worried I won’t get my raise until then. Anyone have something similar happen?
