I had received a shortlisting call from Axis Bank. The HR told me link will be shared where I need to update my documents.
I didn't receive any link and HR confirmed that there is some system issue hence link has not come.
Now, it has been 4-5 days, HR is not receiving my calls.

Someone (not desi) went to a music fest last night where crappy domestic beer was $12, paid $12 and didn’t get served and was given their money back because no tip.
Apparently you now need to tip to get the person to put their hands in a freezer and give you the drink.
Crazy.

This is insane! I am now more for stores like in Tokyo or Seoul where there is zero human interaction for regular stuff in convenience store. We often tip 10% of our pickup orders and 15% if the total bill is over 50 bucks, but recently husband was called out for not tipping 20% on a $25 pickup order for a pizza by the checkout person! This is NYC so that might be that...
The culture has become, If you do not tip,you are made to feel like a bad person even if it is not said explicitly.
I would rather pay a hungry child in Asia or Africa that dollars instead of paying some guy sitting his ass and collecting money for self service.

Op, you saw a “grunt” on somebody’s face and assumed they were upset at you for not tipping ? Grunt is a sound , not a facial reaction. So you read their face and decided that that???
That is FAR CRY from saying someone was mad at you for not tipping.
And every comment is all about American and desi culture, without asking the context or anything

I can understand the genuine frustration when something like this happens at a self-service store. As someone said, the impact of inflation is being felt across communities. While it’s unfair, let’s try to empathize. Who knows what that cashier was going through.

Also, while totally unrelated, it is a fact that desi people are notorious when it comes to giving a tip. Either we don’t tip or tip less even when the service is outstanding. I understand that desi people didn’t grow up with thsibpradtice back in India but we continue the behavior here as well. The hospitality and many other service industries run on the concept of tips. It’s not cultural but rather a business practice because employees don’t get paid enough so they rely on tips. Is it wrong? Yes! But is it a good idea to tip your server, yes! I think our desi friends can do a little better here as well as back in India by tipping for good service.
Or all those employers should start paying their employees better. Capitalism has gaslighted everyone to believe the fault is always on customers and not on employers who choose to pay the bare minimum.
People who highlight the obvious cultural differences should also be willing to question why they are getting minimum wages in the first place and they solely have to look forward for money from tips to make ends meet.
And yes I don’t want to tip anyone for bringing that popsicle from the freezer to the front desk
