Trust me.. the team will do fine without you
EY1 is the idiot who gets everyone sick by coming in and "toughing it out"
The project, team, and company always finds a way and moves on. Rest up and stay connected virtually if needed. It's an opportunity for those you manage to step up and develop.
Stay home, recover, don't mess with your health, think long term
@EY1: your mentality is what makes a lot of people hate their jobs. I hope nobody reports to you at work.
Pound the antibiotics, B vitamins, and caffeine. Stay hydrated. Eat well. It's called walking pneumonia not skip work during the final stretch like a bitch pneumonia
Disregard EY1 get better this week and kick ass after that
Take time off to get better. Your health, and family always come first before a job.
Pneumonia can quickly snowball into something much more serious. I wouldn't take chances. You have 3 weeks, so take a few days off this week and you'll probably be able to finish the project. If you push yourself you could end up in the hospital. Do what you can on conference calls and working from home. The mentality that it's weak to take off when sick is stupid. You put yourself first, don't harm yourself over your job. Your firm should understand, and your more valuable to them in good health.
My mother (relatively healthy) was hospitalized in her 40s for 4 days due to pneumonia. Don't tough it out and take proper care of yourself before it turns into something worse.
Take it easy and rest a couple days, otherwise it will turn into stay in bed pneumonia and you'll need more than a couple days to recover. Don't listen to EY1.
Disregard EY1. Work from home if you have to, otherwise, rest.
Do not fly with an ear infection.
I once went to work with strep throat bc it was a go live and I thought my manager would think I was faking/try to fire me if I called in sick. One of the worst weeks of my life. Looking back I would've stayed home as I was sick for much longer as a result of not taking care of myself. Seriously, stay home.
Ooooo EY4 is probably right. Flew with a sinus infection at some point and I almost cried from the pressure. Never had a worse flight.
Yeah, this can escalate to something more serious and then you really won't be of us to anyone.
Thanks everyone for the guidance.
Lol. Can't believe how much people will sacrifice for a salaried job that couldn't give two shits about them. Stay home, fuck compromising your health for work. And fuck people like EY1 - seriously make this profession miserable
^ go away.
