Those are not good lawyers. Consultations should always be free. Look up lawyers on Yelp or seek out recommendations from the bar association in your state. There may also be state or local legal associations that can help.
First mistake was going to HR. HR works for the business not the IC. Typically, you can file an ethics complaint which would create a paper trail. Work with an employment lawyer. This sounds like wrongful termination especially if you have any evidence of wrongdoing (HR had him formally apologize) and witness statements. Even better if you can find other (former) employees who’ve had a similar experience and would come forward. With companies like this you’re surely not the first nor the last.
You can call EEOC and explain your case. They will guide you or give you advise according to your case.
You need a really good Lawyer, ASAP
HR is not for the employees benefit, it is to manage the “Human Resources” of the company.
Avoid them at all cost in every company. They are dangerous.
Get an attorney if you can, sounds like you might have a case, just my opinion.
Why did you apologize as well?
Was the call recorded?
Get a lawyer.
HR is there to protect the company from its employees.
What was the reasoning for being fired? Having experience in this area, it takes a lot to be fired and going to HR is not a legit reason. Always three sides to every story.
That's the only thing I have that even shows I was termed in the email they replied to me about.
