Hi ladies!
I have my video interview with Liberty Mutual tomorrow for a licensed customer service role. Oddly, this morning I get an invitation to interview with Farmers for a claims customer service associate. I know the salary for the LM role, but not the Farmers role. Does anyone have experience with either? They are both great companies and I want to make sure I’m planting my feet with the right one. Thank you!Liberty Mutual Insurance Farmers Insurance Group

No. Coming in as a SM with no consulting experience is usually a recipe for disaster.
In your case, you have a decent salary (and you are in cyber which pays more than other advisory offerings). In general, people in advisory are paid less than their counterparts at the same level in consulting because advisory has one fewer level than consulting (manager is the 3rd level in advisory but the 4th in consulting)

How so?
Don’t have you pensions in government? Consulting usually does not have this option.
Yup.

Also, managers usually get GS14 when they leave for govt

I think you posted in a different bowl. There are valid callouts there. But what specifics is your concern? You ask an open ended question.
It sounds like a lateral move to me, which is totally fine if that is what you thought you were doing. I read some research last year (HBS maybe?) that shows that lateral or even step down moves are often a key ingredient in advancing a career.
