I was interviewing for a TPM role at Amazon few weeks ago and the interviewer asked me to describe the system design of my project. I think I did a good enough job at responding but the interviewer’s feedback was that I don’t have enough technical know-how. If someone has gone through the interview rounds recently, can you share a little about how such questions are to be answered? It will be very very appreciated. I’m the meantime, I have decided to pursue AWS solution architect certification.

Feeling underpaid for the work I’m producing and taking on. I recognize agencies notoriously under pay lower level employees, but I feel at this point I’m worth so much more. For context I have 2.5 years experience, in an AC role. To my knowledge we still aren’t passing out promotion and pay raises (ya know, COVID and all). Any advice? Upon starting this job a couple of weeks ago, I discovered between the time I interviewed and my start date they had hired a new CEO, laid off all of their off-shore teams, changed my position to a new hiring manager, and added an on-call rotation to all engineering teams. None of this showed up in my research of the company or my interviews.

How do you tiptoe around discussing your previous job in an interview if it was really bad. I think my analyst is going to quit. I thought they were crushing the game: great work ethic and product, good attitude and sense of (slightly cynical) humor, one of our best analysts. Turns out all smiles and good attitude wasn’t working for them. Feel terrible about it. One for the analyst, two for our team, three that I had any part in it.
Part of me says suck it up. The other - prevailing - part is super concerned. So, check in on your juniors at a real level. The kids are not okay.

I quit my job on Tuesday this week. Two days later, my fiancé who worked in the same department as me got terminated unexpectedly and with no prior warning or any prior communications about performance worries or anything else.
